Why are we so anxious to trade Brogdon ?

I seem to remember most being thrilled to get him from the trade last summer and he was praised throughout the season for moving the ball and making smart, quick decisions that were a big plus for an offense with a bad tendency to go iso. Then he wins the league 6th Man of the Year. I prefer the idea of keeping him and White to facilitate better offense. Plus Brogdon has been a model teammate with a great attitude.
I assume it is because of the injury concern. If he goes into next year healthy (aka current injury isn't still a problem) I am all for keeping him.

My thinking was more of getting 30 and converting Brogdon into Morris expiring.  Morris is then a far more attractive trade piece.  That is the whole reason we had to find a 3rd team to do the Zinger trade to begin with i.e. the Wizards didn't want salary past this season.  Morris gives Boston a nice sized easily moveable contract.  Brogdon isn't that and I don't think he has much of a market as he only makes sense on contenders and he is hard to match salary wise.

I tend to think Brogdon is worth a bit more than this. Celtics gave up a rotation big (Theis) a prospect (Nesmith, who started for them this year), and a first. I know he has one less year on his contract.

I guess the value is not that bad. If we worked a third team into the deal upfront, I'd be ok with it. I just don't want Morris around and I don't think we can afford the minutes to help him "rehab" his value.

If we could essentially trade Brogdon for no salary and get under the luxury tax, then we may be able to use the MLE also, which is added value.
Morris had an ok year last year. He started all 65 games he played and shot at a respectable level.  I think he'd be fine as the 4th or 5th big, but it is more about the trade component with him.  Coffey had a pretty good 22 season, but regressed a lot last year, so I don't know what he is. If he is like he was in 22 then you might get something useful, if not then he is just a body and contract filler. Adding 30 to 25 gives the C's more options, whether to move up, move out, or acquire someone.  It would have to come together fast, but it is something to think about especially as Brogdon is hurt and just had the healthiest year he had in years.  I just don't think you can rely on him so if you can get an asset and a more tradeable contract, I think that makes sense.

No. I want Brogdon to be here with banner 18.

If we want to stick with the 3pt offense then we definitely need Brogdon here, and even ask him to shoot more.

Trading Smart for KP actually improves our 3pt offense, theoretically. Let’s see if the other shoe will drop.

I’m surprised that so few fans enjoyed the Marcus Morris experience. I really liked him. I still appreciate that he was the only player on the team who played like he gave a crap in that 2019 Bucks series.

I mean if you are fine just literally cutting Morris then I'd do it, not sure he's a great fit on the team as currently constructed. I got to think some team would just take his expiring for free tho, there's usually teams that strike out in free agency and need to get up to the salary floor.

But my guess is they keep Brogdon as a salary in case something they like comes along. If the clippers were at least consideration Brogdon for #30 got to believe he has SOME value. Word is they just hesitated because not enough time for a real physical.

I feel like recency bias is making people's opinions on brogdon skewed. Guy was 6th man of the year and carried us many nights when Tatum/brown struggled.

Shot 44% from 3 and was a 20ppg scorer with Indiana. In a bigger role and healthy he can be even better. he is a starting caliber guard.

I want him here with Smart gone. Doesn't make sense to make guard a weakness now..

the firepower you can have with Brogdon/white/Brown/Tatum/KP  you can always keep 2 scorers or more on the court.

Terrible attitude, never passed and played poor team defence. What’s not to love?

His injury has me a bit worried, but Brogdon is a super solid player. Probably a top 3 passer and shooter on our team. He’s a very good guy to have.

Definitely not. Brogdon brings a lot more to the table than those guys.

But on a related note, did we actually overpay for Brogdon? We gave up Nesmith, Theis, and pick #29. The pick is barely worse, but I'd much rather have Nesmith and Theis than Morris and Coffey.

All I'm saying is, who knew? We all thought we were getting this amazing deal last year, when in fact we can't even get what we got back for him. This could of course change - and yeah, I still think Brogdon brings a lot more to the Cs than either 'package' above - it's just funny that we are apparently 'stuck' with him. I didn't think he was that kind of negative asset - especially after winning 6moty.

The Pacers weren't up against a deadline trading him last year, but we were this year. Plus he's injured versus just being an injury risk last summer
I'm bitter.

and was the 4th best regular season 3pt shooter in the league at 44.4% with 4.4 attempts.  If healthy he is a solid member of a team moving towards #18.  Keep him!

I'd rather have Morris and Coffey honestly.  Morris is a significantly better player than Theis and by far the best player of those 4.  Nesmith did fine last year, but I need to see it again.  In Coffey's 3rd year he was better than Nesmith was n his 3rd year and then Coffey regressed a lot in year 4.  I need to see Nesmith do it again to feel good about his long term chances in the league.  Nesmith is obviously a better long term prospect than Coffey right now, but I'm just not sure he will actually be a better player.  Maybe he will, but there is uncertainty and even if he continues his play, I don't see him as anything more than a 9th man type player on a good team.

I just think Morris has immensely more trade value than Brogdon since he.is expiring and is not currently hurt.  Brogdon, if healthy, is a better player than Morris, but relying on Brogdon to be healthy is sort of like the Lakers relying on Anthony Davis to be healthy.

At his presser, Stevens said they agreed with the no surgical approach and that they expected him to play when season starts.

I agree .  Team first guy and good locker room guy , steady , smart , not a trouble maker .

Let him heal.
