If they can’t trade him, reports are that Miami is considering stretching and waiving Lowry.

Doubt they would actually do that unless it facilitates them getting an actual upgrade; however, if waived there’s your vet, playmaking point guard with championship experience to bolster the guard rotation. Wouldn’t even have to play very much, but would bring some stability to our rotation. (Runs and hides from the inevitable “hell no” posts.)

Maybe he’d consider it to get some revenge on Miami, but otherwise I think he’d either go to Philly or return to Toronto.

Or maybe he'd see a championship contender with a Marcus Smart size hole in the rotation. I am all for Lowry, I think he would be a great fit for this stage in his career. I also always respected how Lowry is usually in in good position when he takes charges. Doesn't feel as much like a flop like it sometimes did with Smart. Might rankle Pritchard to bring in more competition though.

If this somehow happened and he somehow came to the C's you'd 100% have to trade PP.

Yeah, you might be right. I think there's a strong likelihood he stays in Portland, to be honest, but I also think the comparison between Lillard and Wolves-era KG is very apt.

Seems that way… This was from earlier today.

Damian Lillard has not requested trade

Clutch Points: “This was the meeting that a lot of the league was watching to see if Damian Lillard requested a trade, and he absolutely did not. In fact, from what I understand, the tender of the meeting was that he doesn’t want to put pressure on the Blazers, that he wants to see what they do in free agency, and that he’s going to give them time to do that. So this is an interesting strategic move. He said at the end of the season ‘give me veterans’. The Draft came and went, but no veterans. He’s still not pressing from what I’ve been told.” — Brian Windhorst pic.twitter.com

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I've lost interest in this drama. I'd rather obsess over random summer league players.

How long would he have to wait before he could resign with the c's?

Morris is solid. I've never been much of a Wright fan. Could we send out Brogdon and get another player back with Morris in a 3 team trade? Like, would the Clippers consider a deal like this:

Clippers: Brogdon
Celtics: Monte Morris, Robert Covington (or Batum instead. He seems like a Stevens-type player)
Wizards: Marcus Morris, 2 second round picks

This helps us save some money (about 1.1m), gives us an additional rotation guy that can play defense, and gives us a pretty good rotation point guard that keeps the ball moving. I think Pritchard and Morris could be good off the bench together.

I like the idea.  It is saving us money in that we would have 2 roster spots filled for roughly $20M instead of just 1 with Brogdon.  That is one less vet min we would need to sign and probably allows us to stay under the apron and use the MLE.

But I would like to get a more back for Brogdon.  Maybe if it was Batum or something else.

Morris is super solid. He'd be a unicorn for the Celtics in that he's so efficient -- barely turns the ball over, healthy assist numbers. Just a solid engine for the second unit. Plus he -- by far -- was the guy who assisted Porzingis the most last year. 91 times compared to 62 for Beal (#2). So there's some established chemistry there. About the same (marginally negative) defensively as Brogdon.

I'm not sure if he plus RoCo is enough value, though. But I'd love to find a way to get him if there's an extra sweetener somewhere.

I'd do that + another second in a heartbeat.

Not in a world where stay under the second apron, however.  We’d be a minimum of 1.2 million over, and that assumes we’ve brought over both Yam and Begarin on minimum deals, punted on the TPMLE, and only filled 14 roster spots.

Exactly what I was thinking. This deal is fine if the plan is to sign/match Grant and live with being over the apron. But otherwise, it kind of paints us into a corner.

Sure, but we wouldn't be taking on any lousy contracts that would be difficult to move next year, and we'd be getting a consistent rotation player.

What corner?  You and C21 are advocating for us not to use the MLE.  What does this change, other than upgrading the team?
