All this talk of "blow it up!" or wanting to shake it up really ignores what is the elephant in the room...

top to bottom, this is a very talented celtics roster. and if all Brad does is run it back next year they will be one of the top teams in the NBA

BUT

they run no set offense, theres no movement. how many times do you see guys just standing around the 3' point line and then they jack up a 3 or only one guy tries to drive and kick it out. it's just so predictable. Watching tatum/brown stand in corners not moving is so frustrating because you know if they cut to the basket they are going to take defenses with them. Smart said they have no offensive system. thats just poor coaching letting guys play. they are one dimensional and easy to defend.

and yet they shouldnt be...now maybe Brad's excuse is Joe only had 2 weeks before training camp. BUT we cant just expect to win over teams with talent in the playoffs. we need to find a way to get this team to play as an organized unit. not just individual players. Whenever Tatum or brown have the ball, there should be guys constantly running through screens, cutting to the basket and moving without the ball. Tatum/Brown are stronger and bigger than most other teams, we need to be exploiting those mismatches having them down on the block and using their strength (what happened to tatums turnaround that was automatic?). Just standing around not moving is letting the other team off the hook. and its soo easy to defend.

warriors shoot alot of 3's, Miami shot alot of 3's but there is a difference in quality of 3's that they shot. Boston stood around the 3 point line and shot contested step back 3's. Miami/warriors are running through screens, making guys work and getting rhythm in shot 3's. so shooting alot of 3's isn't necessarily bad. But the quality matters more than the quantity here...

If the celtics really want to win a championship they need to focus on running an actual offensive system. Sure at some point your talent is going to have to make a play. But I just feel what we are watching is just misusing talent.

Charles barkley said Miami runs an offense while celtics just rely on their talent to beat other teams. he's absolutely right. We need to mix our talent with an actual offense.

The really awful thing is that it really looked like they had a system at the start of the season. It wasn't a continuation of what we saw under Ime, it was a hell of a lot better.

Over the course of the season, though, teams adjusted, we didn't, and the players stopped buying in, and we wound up with the always-infuriating 'my turn, your turn' offense our roster tends to devolve into when things aren't going well. I won't speak to the best way to solve that problem, though. It's befuddled three straight head coaches.
