Sources: The Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics are finalizing a three-team trade:

- Mavs: Grant Williams
- Spurs: Reggie Bullock and an unprotected Dallas pick swap in 2030
- Celtics: Multiple second-round picks

More 2nd round picks?

Yep. I do not understand what Brad Stevens is doing

Once KP was acquired and we went from Marcus's salary at 20 per over three to Kp's at 32 per over three there was going to be cost cutting moves. Grant leaving is one of those.

Sure hope all these second round picks can make shots

Celtics bench is just putrid.

We’re not matching 4/54? Really?

Boy, better be some more dominoes to fall.

EDIT: Woj reporting 4/53.

4/54 is MLE money. That's a very reasonable deal for Grant.

This is the Celtics being cheap, wouldn't have cost them anything but money this year to match this deal and would have been easy enough to move next off season.

I guess they just view the and apron as a hard cap moving forward.

Bench consists of a

Brogdan and Pp
Hauser
Brissett
Kornet
Al or Rob
Walsh

I don’t count Banton because he’s not a real player

That’s an awful bench. Just terrible.

  • GOT IT!!!
There’s gotta be another shoe that drops because the C’s continue to mortgage depth for cheap signings and picks.

Boston is landing three second-round picks in the deal, including a 2024, 2025 and 2028, sources tell ESPN.

It really isn't. There are two players that would be starting for many other teams, a young player in a contract year that has shown quite a bit, and a shooting specialist.

I think its likely we still will try to get one or two more guys, but we aren't doing bad. This isn't the 2020 Celtics.

Yeah it's not a ton of money. But it would put us over the 2nd apron.

But how do we replace this role. I think Brad is being too concerned about the 2nd apron when you have a championship caliber team

I agree! Malcolm is only guy who can score
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Brogdan—always hurt
PP—no idea if he can be a legit player
Hauser—not trusted by the coach
Brissett—g league talent
Rob—always hurt
Banton—not a nba player
Kornet—a waste of space

This bench is awful

Going to run Tatum and brown into the ground. No scoring at all on the bench

Well, three picks isn’t too bad to help out in a S&T, but with the current landscape GWill was much more valuable to us than three seconds, both as bench reinforcement and a Giannis defender.

We better utilize them. I’m very concerned about our depth as it stands, especially our bigs given how injury prone they are.

Ugh, going to be hard to replace him now. Hopefully we put those multiple seconds to use.

Got to wonder if acquiring assets for Lillard - or another upgrade - is  part of this, as that’s a big loss for us for only some second round picks. I know they’re more valuable in the new CBA, but still.

came here to post this same sentiment. if dealing grant and stockpiling more 2’s aren’t chess moves setting up a larger deal for the C’s, brad got fleeced (or wyc got cheap). bench strength/depth is dwindling.
