Losing grant means power forward is very thin. There has be a legit nba playing brought in. No more of what Brad has brought in as of late.

I don’t think Banton makes the team. He will be sent to Maine

The remaining FA options are pretty slim at this point.  If we don't sign Grant, we probably have to trade Brogdon if we want to bring in a "legit NBA player" to fill the back up PF slot.

As to Banton, if I understand correctly, he is signed to a guaranteed 2-year contract for a regular roster position.  Whether he is sent to G-League or not, he is taking up a roster spot, like Nesmith was when we played in the G-League.  At least that is what Spotrac is reporting for his contract.

So then we become really weak at guard.

Brad has mismanaged this off-season.  KP is nice, but is he so nice that he's worth Smart, Brogdon, Grant, Gallo and Muscula?

And, are we really one of the least desirable free agent destinations in the league now, to the point where we can't sign anybody other than dumpster dives?

Pat Beverly said on a podcast that the Celtics were interested in signing him and offered him more money than Philly (he signed for 1 yr, $3,196,448), but they asked him to wait a few days so they could clear other business. He didn't want to.

It's not like Boston isn't being active, but free agency is about choices. These guys aren't obligated to come here.

The Brogdon trade falling apart and now this leaguewide delay due to superstars wanting trades really put the Cs in a tough spot. Kudos to the Sixers for taking advantage. When Smart was dealt, in the back of my mind I did wonder if they had Beverley in mind to replace some of that lost defense. Maybe now they'll try to get everyone's favorite trade target Delon Wright?

Honestly, the timing of Lillard and Harden's trade requests was ridiculous. Both could have easily figured things out a lot earlier.

I think its more grant williams. If you keep Grant you cant use the MLE. so if you sign Beverly to any part of the MLE that means Grant williams is 100% leaving.

clearly they haven't made up their decision on him.

And who is this Oshae Brissett character ?

Career 41% field goal shooter & 31% from three.

Dumpster Dive is right.

So why are we so insistent on trading Brogdon ? He was the deal of the decade last off-season when the Celts acquired him, he wins 6th man of the year, gets hurt and as a result, struggles during the playoffs and now we want him gone ? He is one of the few bright spots from Brad's trade & FA additions. He is a perfect example of the type of quality rotation player a championship team needs.

The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I think they want to find a way to convert Brogdon's salary into a cheaper backup PG and cap space/money for either Grant or a reasonable facsimile. However, teams with cap space that don't have to give salary back might need to be involved in the Lillard and Harden deals right now.

My reading is they would still keep Grant at a reasonable figure (full mid level) but are also open to S&T if he gets too expensive and they get something back. Then they could use that asset or other ones to figure out the Brogdon thing/and/or get Grant's replacement.

Whatever way or order it happens, I think they want to end up with Brogdon out, a cheaper backup PG in, and either Grant or his replacement with the remaining chunk of the money. I don't really think it's about not having made up their minds on Grant's value.

Brad is trying to move brogdan. That to me is the hang up.
Ideally moving him to Portland in a dame deal would be the move

Sources: The Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics are finalizing a three-team trade:

- Mavs: Grant Williams
- Spurs: Reggie Bullock and an unprotected Dallas pick swap in 2030
- Celtics: Multiple second-round picks

So all Boston gets back are more second round picks. What a disaster

NBA sources on Twitter like Stein and Cato are saying that the Mavs are trying to work a S&T with the Celtics for Grant by possibly trading Tim  Hardaway jr to the Spurs.

What or who do we get in return?

I’d guess a pick and/or a second tier prospect.  If it’s a true three-way deal we’d have to get something from San Antonio.  If it’s split into two parts (Dallas moves THJ then made a S&T for Grant) it could just be something from Dallas.

I’m going to hope for Malaki BranHAM IR Josh Green, but expect Blake Wesley or Jaden Hardy.

That's all we get for a solid NBA rotation player ?
Just buy Grant a plane ticket wherever he wants to go and get it over with.

Ugh, going to be hard to replace him now. Hopefully we put those multiple seconds to use.

Got to wonder if acquiring assets for Lillard - or another upgrade - is  part of this, as that’s a big loss for us for only some second round picks. I know they’re more valuable in the new CBA, but still.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

In the end I think that's pretty much what we expected right? C's didn't want to take on salary it appears.

The Mavericks are acquiring Celtics restricted free agent Grant Williams on a four-year, $54 million deal via sign-and-trade, per sources. WME Sports’ Bill Duffy and Erik Kabe completed the new contract for Williams.

I was hoping for more, but honestly, its hard to expect more when all you are doing is facilitating getting a player to a team.

I enjoyed Grant Williams. Wish him the best, but it will be hard to see him on a different contender.
