The last couple of years this Celtics teams has provided seemingly a lifetime of thrilling playoff moments and series:

The good:
Game 1 vs Brooklyn last year
Down 3-2 vs Bucks last year, comeback
Down 3-2 vs Philly this year, comeback
Down 3-0 vs Miami, and now still alive for a Game 7

The bad:
Game 3 vs Milwaukee in '22. Al's putback called off.
Game 5 vs Atlanta this year, Trae Young's 3 to win
Game 4 vs Philly. Harden's 3 then Smart's 3 called off.

The lucky and ugly:
Game 7 vs Miami last year with Butler's missed 3
Game 6 vs Miami right now, with White's miracle tip in
The last 5 or so years have had plenty. Some infamous moments include OG's corner 3, and Middleton's 30 foot dagger

I wouldn't call last years game 7 "lucky." They literally led for the entire game, they were in control and earned the cushion they almost gave up.

This team has shed the soft label

They just need to put teams away.

It’s still a blur to me, but was JT covered? Why did Marcus take that final shot? Was it a broken play?

It's crazy how we outplay the other team and find ways to lose. It really needs to stop. Just a couple buckets and stops in those last couple minutes and we win comfortably. We found a way to screw up almost every possession at both ends. Major mental failings tonight - unlike Game 4 and 5 -  thank god we pulled it out

Don’t really have words for tonight’s game.

They finished both halves really poorly. But Derrick White saved us and all we can really have asked was to get us back home.

And here we are. Game 7. History. Let’s go make it.

This was game 7 vs Miami last year all over again. Got up big late and had to rally to hold on

Game 7 needs to be the best version of themselves

I'm at my parents' house watching this game, and we just went berserk for about ten minutes watching that. My God.

But, holy cow, that's so concerning how we choke this stuff away. Joe and the guys both really crapped the bed. JB and Smart missing free throws, Al with stupid fouls, Joe sitting on his hands letting that run kill us and making no effort to adjust things, etc.

Very true

Same thing last year’s Game 7. Blew a 13 point lead in 3 minutes. Imagine if Butler hit that 3 late. Even today we lucked out Robinson bricked some open 3s. Miami went on a 14-4 run before White made the game winner

If you don’t count the game winner, Cs choked. But they made the game winner.  I thought they’d lose a close game. They didn’t.  If they take G7 this win will be a learning experience.  Needed to win a close one and they finally did.

Look, I love Tatum. But they have GOT TO STOP letting him initiate offense late. He slows it waaaaay down, the c's don't even get into an action until there's 7 seconds left on the shot clock.

Have your PG's play PG. Doesn't mean he can't take a lot of shots or touch the ball every possesion, but not to start.

yeah, this drives me nuts. it bogs down the offense, depletes the shot clock, and forces the C’s into really bad shots.

i also don’t understand why they found so much success early with marcus in the paint but completely abandoned it late.

so often, this team is its own worst enemy.

If they win it all this year, that would mean a number of things....

They finally played up to their capabilities.
They played hard, tough defense
They didn't get crushed on the boards
They avg'd under 12 TOs a game
They moved the ball around
They didn't wilt under the pressure in tight games

All these outcomes are predicated on effort, energy, patience, trust, selflessness, mental toughness - all things they CAN control...even if their shots aren't falling.  Now, of course, make no mistake....they will have to have hit shots.  But all of the above will keep them in games no matter what.

I feel like these intangibles have been inconsistent all year.  A major reason why it was frustrating to watch them at times throughout the season.  They lived and died by the 3 and were able to beat much of the league because so.  But the playoffs are different.  We've been exposed because much of the above has been missing.  They showed it in spurts.  Can they show it over the next few weeks, is the question.

The 3’s werent falling but they did all of these!
