The players definitely deserve some blame, and have been getting it(plenty of negative comments on here and social media). But i think the players see what most of us do which is that Joe Schmoe has no clue what hes doing and they have gave up because this aint it.

Theres no real offensive strategy but to set weak picks up top and work out of the isolation and chuck threes which is basically pickup ymca basketball. Theres barely any off ball stuff going on to get our guys open ie what the warriors do to get their shooters open shots, its just five out stare at the iso dribbler and hope for the best. Thats just not gonna cut it in the playoffs when teams play way harder on defense and then can also adjust over a series. The only success we really have is in the fast break but you need to get stops to have those types of opportunities. And I cant even begin to start on the defensive strategy because theres just so much wrong it would take too long.

And me personally im more p---ed with the front office/ownership for even going this direction than I am Joe. Im sure with some seasoning he could become maybe a decent coach but the dude had no experience whatsoever and they chose him instead of someone who could help win now. We had a promising young roster(besides Al) who needed to learn how to take the next step and now they have to slow down and wait for their coach to catch up. It was a recipe for disaster
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

I dont blame Joe BEING the head coach.  What 34 yr old with a couple years coaching a D2 college team wouldnt jump at the chance to coach a team that was in the finals.

I DO believe with all the experience this group has they should accept most of the blame for their failures.  Unfortunately, their DNA suggests they dont have that “dawg” in them.  Too often they play with no heart.  They buckle under pressure and continue to make the same mistakes over and over.  And no matter who the coach is, they can always play tough/hard, with energy and effort.  Those things they can control themselves regardless of who the coach is.  THAT is on them.

However…

When things went sideways last year they could always buckle down on defense, stop opposing runs and even completely shut teams down.  They are clearly capable of that.  That WAS their identity.  This year we have the same group, more time with DWhite, Brogdon and a healthy RW.  On paper we should be better.

But we’ve lost that defensive identity and toughness.  Joe chose to emphasize offense over defense.  Why not double down on that?  Joe’s rotations have been attrocious.  His inability to make in game adjustments have been glaring.  His utilization of timeouts are obvious.

Furthermore, has he really held them accountable?  Ime would regularly call them out when they deserved it.  Does Joe even carry that type of respect?  It doesnt sound like it according to some of the players.  They have regularly alluded to them “helping him”.

To make matters worse, he can be snarky and condescending in post games…ie.  comments like “Does anyone wanna ask about the adjustments”, “we won 3 out of 4 quarters” (except the quarter we lost was giving up 46 pts).

The reality is, he’s in over his head with a group like this.  Particularly with the expectations on this team.

He should not be the coach.

This wasn’t how they used to play.

Remember when we had Kyrie and Hayward was hurt?

Kyrie quit on this team.

It left us with just “the kids” and Horford.

That team became an underdog.

That team played with guts.

That team played with heart.

That team was so fun to watch.

Maybe this team doesn’t handle being the favored well.

Maybe it’s too much pressure.

Well now you’re a massive massive underdog to a 7th seed (probably not an accurate representation of their team) with elimination games from here on out.

When your back is against the wall….what are you made of?

fire the coach and purge the quitters on this team

this team has zero fight or pride.

If we purge all the players that quit last night we will be left with Payton Pritchard, Luke kornet and Sam Hauser.
No thanks.

Yes Celtics fans…we are the grandmasters of overreactions to both losses and wins.

This same team looked shot going into G6 at Philly.

Philly is clearly a better rostered team than the Heat.

We did manage to win 6 and 7 to save our season.

That showed heart.

That showed resilience.

That showed Celtic Pride.

What the hell happened ?

The C's walked into a gun fight this series with a plastic knife. The players deserve most of the blame but Mazzulla isn't qualified to coach this team. End of story

I wouldn't have been too frustrated if the C's split the home games and still lose Game 3 shatting the bed to be down 2-1. But now they're down 3-0. Hard to overcome this. C's could've easily been up 2-1 if they didn't blow double-digit leads in both games.

Joe has been pretty terrible but the players are getting too much of a pass with all the heat he’s taking. So we are gonna give the players a pass for falling into the same old bad habits they’ve had for years and straight up quitting in game 3?

Agreed. That doesn't necessarily mean we gotta trade everyone ... or if anyone ... but after how they played, things are on the table. They will be discussed. They should be discussed.

That is what happens when you poop the bed.

That job security that you thought you had, you find out your don't really have it no more. It is up in the air whether they keep you or move on. And rightly so.

I blame 90% on Joe, 70% on players and their lack of intensity, and 50% on Stevens for poor mismanagement of roster and just management in general.

I know the percentages don't make sense but that's how I feel.

Brad and Wyc, what will u do now with the media.

Fixed the percentages for you.

Blame 44%  on Joe
Blame 33% on players
Blame 23% on Brad

The players have played like garbage.

Also true: the coach sucks and sets them up for failure.

Both true. The coach is easier to replace than the players though, so he'll be the first to go. But I hope that doesn't paper over the cracks. They need to look at everything and everyone that led them to this point. There should be nothing off the table.

Players have played like garbage. But I look at it like this

this is the SAME roster as last year that made the finals, actually healthier. and a deeper roster. there should be growth/improvement.

there is only ONE change here.

Ime Udoka to Joe Mazzulla, If you ignore that the coaching change has nothing to do with it and its just the players, i'm not sure what to tell you. we can't credit the switch from Brad to Ime for turning the team around, then dismiss the switch from Ime to Mazzulla for it going off the rails.

to me, its like patriots fans blaming all of last years struggles on the players and not Patricia/Judge having absolutely no clue what they are doing. now, Bill realized his mistake and hired O'Brien. will management do the same and hire a real coach?

Umm… I think the players are also getting plenty of blame. There are so many trade Brown/Smart threads now. I’d personally keep Smart, but yeah. Anyway

Joe definitely deserves some blame though. I don’t blame his actions of stepping up to be a HC because how could I? It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for him. But because he’s HC, he opens himself up to criticism based on expectations of a HC. And he hasn’t done a great job. Well deserved blame imo
