Trade Smart, PP/Muscala + picks for a starting hybrid PF/C

Move Horford and Timelord to the bench

Keep the Jays

Re-sign GWill IF less than 12M AAV

Ideally fire the coach, but if that won’t happen then hire some legit assistants around him (Vogel, Silas, etc).

I'm open to moving Jaylen Brown for the right price too. I'm getting fed up with his poor ballhandles which cause turnovers, and poor BBIQ. Him and Kyrie can reunite and be best buddies, idk.

Jaylen Brown isn't a super-max caliber player. He doesn't complement Tatum well and he's close to reaching his ceiling. But in terms of recouping value, it makes no sense to trade him with one-year left on his contract. We're pretty much stuck with him.

Cameron Johnson could be an interesting target in a sign and trade. A skilled SF who can play three positions. A player who specializes in connectivity / offensive cohesion. Good ball-handler, good passer, great outside shooter. A guy who connects things together on offense. Good defender.

We keep Jaylen. We then have a trio of Jaylen, Tatum and Cam Johnson that can together in a small ball lineup or spell each other at SG, SF and keep two skilled offensive threats & big wings on the floor at all times. Or two skilled forwards (SF, PF) on the floor at all times.

Probably have to give up one of the guards, some picks, cap filler to have a shot at him.

I know I’m beating a dead horse here & been saying this for a long time, we never win a championship without a legit center
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Hey Phantom, glad to see this thread started. I haven't watched one second of the ECF. My mind has moved on. Summer is around the corner.

That said...

What's your big picture plan here? or is this just a random set of thoughts to get the off-season conversation started?

honestly only one thing needs to be done. fire Joe mazzulla. thats the difference between last year and this year. sign Bud, nurse, any one of these veteran coaches out there who has won a championship...people say coaching doesnt matter. well this series it actually does.

those teams fired their coaches for far less than what Joe has done...

alot of people will scream "TRADE BROWN" in emotional irrational takes. but you HAVE to pay him. lock him up for 5 years. hes still young and had a really good season. you aren't replacing him with anyone better lets be honest. and if you lock him up you still can trade him later. vs trading him with 1 year left on his deal...it would be like phoenix yelling to trade booker because they lost to denver...

Oh yeah, and brad needs to go out and sign some bigs. you cant roll into the season with just timelord and some scrubs

Good point - I'm really excited to watch KD and Chris Paul play in the Western Conference Finals later.

The coaching staff needs to be restocked, whether that's keeping Mazza or not (I think it's likely he stays) he obviously needs some help, and a full turnover from Ime's assistants with some vetted/quality replacements would do a world of good.
