No. For my own sanity, I'm not gonna get my hopes up unless the Cs win Game 5. Then I might believe in this team.

If they win Game 5, Game 6 will undoubtedly be the most important game they will ever play in their lives.

If the Celtics make it to game 7, the series is over for Miami.

yeah if we somehow get this to 6 this will be a call to arms for miami and basically a last stand because they do not want a game 7 at the garden . game 6 would be a war and put all on pins and needles.

Jimmy Butler already saying that Game 4's loss will build momentum for Miami, and to play like their backs are against the wall in Game 5. Very interesting mindset for being up 3-1

Charles barkely thinks they blow doors in game 5 (I sure hope hes right) and game 6 is basically for the series. I don't necessarily disagree.

If you get it to game 6, you do not want a game 7 in Boston. See Milwaukee/Philly

i am not seeing that. i see a close tight game at home and if we win who knows in miami. could be close could be blowout either way. i can easily see us flopping in either game 5 or 6. they dug such a deep hole it will be real hard to dig out of. hard to imagine this team playing smart and focused for that long.

i do not feel good about anything with this team given past behaviors. I do not see this going past 5 or 6.

would be funny if they pulled off miracle wins next two games then flopped in game 7 ala 2018 ECF.

I haven't believed since ATL took them six games.  This team has stars but lacks desire, drive, motivation, etc.

Sure. But there is a point where championship teams "grow up" and overcome their mental hitches.

I'm hoping this is our moment.

If it's that point, then it needs to happen tonight out of all the games played this season.

What follows is only my opinion. Don't use it as a basis to buy or sell tickets.

Boston fans don't seem to believe.

One of the ways that I amuse myself* is by tracking the resale market and seeing what prices are doing. For instance, Game 2 tickets in Loge 10 were going for $1,000+ per ticket before Game 1. Then, after we dropped Game 1, buyers went on strike. Game 2 tickets dropped below Game 1 tickets and eventually found a floor. They took a dead cat bounce and then stabilized.

Game 5 tickets have been seen a buyer shortage since the beginning. It became like the housing market--sellers didn't want to drop prices and buyers didn't want to raise their bids. Over the past 24 hours, sellers have begun to soften a bit. Given that there is only a limited time until expiration and the time decay of ticket values accelerates as we get closer to tip off, the sellers seem to be in a position where they need to drop more. That is assuming, of course, that the sellers don't actually want to go to the game. If they have an "I'll see what I can get and if it's not enough, I'll go" attitude, then they won't drop their prices as much.

Part of the issue, of course, is the crazy prices that these tickets sell for in the secondary market. It's rare that ticket levels can stay as high as they got, since there's only a limited number of buyers.

But demand does seem to be slower for this round than it was for others. As Rick Pitino once said, Taylor Swift is not walking through that door, fans.

I'm probably thinking that should have been Game 5 at Home against ATL, or Game 2 at home against PHL, or Game 5 at home against PHL, or games 1 and 2 at home against MIA.

Nine games at home and they've lost five.  Sub-500 home record in the playoffs.  Teams used to fear playing the C's at home, not any more.

To double-down on that thought, what are the chances that the Cs feel good about not being swept and mail it in at the first sign of adversity tonight?  I don't think Gabe Vincent is the X-factor.  The X-factor is the Celtic mindset and the ability (or inability) to put together 48 minutes of competitive basketball.

You have to love how the narrative changed after literally one game.  All the sportscasters are now thinking a comeback is a possibility.  The whole 0-150 statistic is now out the window.  The Celts still have to win 3 more in a row to make the impossible possible.  I have seen no evidence that can occur based on one game.

I'll watch, but I'm resigned to Miami winning this series.

There is almost no precedent for our situation. A top 2 seed down 0-3 and now 1-3 to an 8 seed with only one more game on the road.

I still believe.

yeah i agree with you. i lost money last game betting on heat. i think i will sit this one out and here is why: a handicapper just emailed me this. and FTR he bet miami the first 3 games and hit them all! NOW all of a sudden HE likes boston -8......what? yes! not simple MONEYLINE but the spread. here is his reasoning:

8-Unit Play Take Boston -8 over Miami (8:30 p.m. EST, Thursday May 25)

Boston has tons of talent and a lot of playoff experience, and we don't think they are out of this series yet. We don't even think they are panicked. They sure didn't look like it in Game 4. They put their heads down and confidently got the job done. That was a 17-point road win with their season on the line. All they need to do is take this one game at a time and a win here would put them right back in this series. And the oddsmakers seem to agree with this line. But we aren't worried about the points here. Boston has covered in every game they have won this postseason, and in 12 straight stretching back to the regular season. Even though we took Miami in the first three games of this series, we love to back the Celtics this season because of their resilience and their competitive fire. They don't want to just win, they want to dominate. We think they captured the momentum in this series and we expect another big win as they have seemed to figure things out a bit and made the necessary adjustments.

as far as me? right now? after reading that?

This is an interesting perspective.  Everything they are saying is absolutely true.  When the Celtics win, they tend to win easily.  Your handicapper has the stats on this.  But as Celtics fans, we are gun-shy having seen the inconsistency the entire season.  I don't bet and even if I did, I wouldn't bet on my home teams, for just this reason.  Those painful losses all season leave scar tissue on us as fans but to the professional handicappers, it is just another number.

The line that is out there tells you that most bettors believe the Celtics are going to win this with some room to spare.  That is the rational, logical conclusion to arrive at based on the facts.  Some bettor in the mid-west did not suffer though the gut-wrenching losses where the Celtics just didn't show up.  They know about this series, but are assuming that the Celtics have snapped out of it.

I am with you though.  I understand that the Celtics should be favored in this game, but I am on pins and needles realizing just how inconsistent this team can be.

yes normally avoid betting your favorite team. or bet against as a  hedge if we lose. only game i bet on boston to win was game 3 in philly. i knew we were winning that.

problem here is we watch this team and know it way better than any handicapper. also, while we tend to win big when we do win we have lost many where we were favored. we are bad at home. yeah this series has gotten crazy as far as getting a feel. i was gonna stick with miami until they close out. but now i am having doubts at least for this game. i might bet against us game 6. IF WE MAKE it. LOL
