Welp - time to refresh this thread.

That's a firing-worthy game. All of this nonsense is derivative of Joe and his ridiculous Mazzulla Ball philosophy that over-prioritizes the three ball. That was one of the ugliest displays of offense that this league has ever seen, and it will be used as a poster child for all of the criticism of today's current NBA.

And because he's so dogmatic on this, Joe made*zero* adjustments to help the team - even after we shot 19 OF 20 SHOTS FROM THREE IN THE THIRD QUARTER. We then followed it up with even more crap in the fourth quarter.

We win DESPITE Joe, not because of him. Fire him.

Mazzula ball generated a grand total of 39 points in the second half.  Bad shoot games happen.  I agree, it's the failure to adjust and do things that could have easily - yes, easily - put us on the path to victory that was infuriating.

Last time I checked the players were the ones on the court deciding the game, not the coach. They were settling for bad shots. JT and JB went 14-43 from the field. If your two best players are going to shoot that poorly, you?re not going to win the game.

So I actually don't disagree with him on the open looks part, that was true. C's were bricking bad. However at some point in the 4th and OT you have to actually adjust.

Guess he should have called a timeout and told Tatum not to turn the ball over 5 times as well. The players had a bad game, it happens.

Maybe someone smarter can analyze this for me, but what is with these bad ATOs too?? I agree with @GoldStar88 that the players are responsible too, they need to execute. But some things like ATO plays are a coaching/strategy thing. C's had chances at the end of the 4th and OT, and even some other crucial moments and it felt like the plays were either broken or led to a bad shot attempt (meaning there wasn't much creativity and they had to settle for a bad shot)

That's one area I miss Brad Stevens in big time. His ATOs and end of quarter stuff was awesome

When you have the Knicks two best players in foul trouble going into the 3rd quarter sometimes you need a coach to let the players know what they need to do. Especially when you start to see 3 after 3, I get that?s what Mazulla wants but sometimes as a coach you should have a better feel for what?s going on in the moment. This isn?t a January game. He should have been in their  ear to attack not to shoot 19 3?s in that quarter. This is where Joe is absolutely useless. Anyone can just sit back and let them jack 3?s what?s the point of Mazulla???

the thing is with the never stopping jacking 3s, is when the other team is on a run and you can't hit a jump shot, you need to do something to score, and just slow down their momentum.   even a couple more 2s from mid range shots would have won us the game.   we have to be able to play in different ways (just like Orlando series) to win another title.  Tonight isn't going to cut it.
