Its Official. Zach Edey enters the draft and if hes there at #33 will be a Boston Celtic!!!

No way does Brad mess this up. Anyone have an issue with Zach over Kornet on the depth chart?

What makes him special. Strength. Leg Strength. Guys cant move him an inch. He actually moves them, While the entry pass is coming.

Super Smart. Amazing teamate. Throws a baseball 80 mph plus. Wanted to be 7'4" Randy Johnson.

Example lineups. You cant guard Zach one on one.

Offense

Edey
Horford
Tatum
Brown
Brogdon

Defense

Edey
Timelord
Tatum
Brown
Smart

Small ball

Edey
Tatum
Brown
White
Smart

With the three point shooting the Celtics have
And Edey being a force down low it opens up more options for the offence. Its not even fair. Also a dominant rebounder and rim protector.

I know switching will be a problem. Keep him under the basket and he will be a force! Hes only been hooping for 5 years! Sky is the Limit!!!

I know nothing about him so I’ll ask the obvious question: why will he be available at 33?

Most definitely. Not projected to be drafted until late 2nd round if at all.  He is a project.

The NBA has lost its mind he’s got potential to be a top 5 center in the league, his feet are very slow. 22 ppg and 13 rebounds per game, 2 blocks per game, national player of the year in his 5th season playing ball.

Project label is crazy. He’s already very good with a chance to be special

Idk what else might be available but a well-coordinated 7’4” would seem to be a consideration. Hard to tell from the highlights if any touch around the hoop - most were straight up dunks. Also foot speed unclear and can’t really get a feel on a highlight reel the quality of his hands. Love the timing on the blocks (highlights). Would think he offers more rim intimidation than Luke at the outset.  Replacement for Luke, probably, but that’s not as big a need as insurance for Rob/Al.  If he had a shot - even at 5-10 feet, there probably would be examples on the reel (just one).

Game highlights give you a better idea, runs the court very well for his size. Has a great jump hook. Played 32mpg shows good stamina

Hips aren't loose. Lateral speed is pretty poor.

Terrible and Lazy comparison. I think you know that. Thabeet had no offensive game at all. Thats why I would much rather have Edey than Lively from Duke.

Edey is the player of the year. Im not saying he looks like Shaq but like Shaq, When he gets position down low. Its over its a bucket.

This kid can play basketball will be a huge additon to the Celtics.

For the record Shaq his junior year went for 24ppg 14 rpg and a crazy 5 bpg 62% fg 52% ft

Edey 22.3 ppg 13 rpg 2 bpg 60% Fg 72% Ft

You cant Hack a Zach either. Better FT shooter.

The next Mark Eaton?  Eaton was 7'-4" and in 11 seasons put up 6 pts and 8 rebs.  Eaton was drafted in 1982 in the 4th round (yes, apparently they had 10 rounds back then).  Edey can't be any slower than Eaton can he?

I say he is totally worth a second round pick and a 2-way contract (we will have 3 available next season).  There will always be second round level guards and wings that are available but how often do you get a shot at a 7'-4" player?  I can see teams not wanting to risk a first round pick on him (which comes with a guaranteed contract) but if we take him with a second, he can be a 2-way like Davison was this season.  Give us a chance to see what we got.

I say this without ever having seen him play.  The key with these big prospects is not so much their foot speed but rather do they have the reactions to keep up with the speed of the game.  He seems to have that based on the highlights.  Often, these bigs are kind of a beat slow in reacting to the ball.  Again, that all looked OK to me based on the highlights so I say give him a chance.

TP for being open minded VG. I want to add that he is good at Hockey (canadian) Volleyball and can throw a baseball 85 mph. Looks very fluid throwing. I was shocked. Very Smart kid! Tough Great Mom.

I see top five Center as his upside.
