Nuggets are cruising. Looks like they will be the first team to advance from the 2nd round.

Well-deserved.

Jokic has definitely looked like the MVP this postseason so far overall (Embiid is the real MVP, but Jokic has been more consistent and available too)
Shades of the Dallas disappearance in this game. 3/16 from their two stars is too much.

Missing two starters is a big ask though. Especially the PG and the C. Agree on Jokic though - he’s a beast
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Why is Ayton not playing?

Rib contusion. Sounds a bit serious, it's impacting his movements and breathing too according to reports

Yeah it's just too much to ask KD + Booker to each put up 35+ PPG regularly. Not sustainable. Today they have combined for just 15 near halftime and are down 20 which sums it up

Hmm, I've always thought/heard that rib contusions were more a pain tolerance issue. Wouldn't surprise me if other stuff is going on with all the controversy surrounding Ayton and this team.

That said, he is a big, and they do have a lot of bumping and grinding down low. So it's certainly possible it really kept him out.

That might also be due to his missing a heart

The Nuggets offence is a machine. Jokic is the reincarnation of Bird on that end for my mind. The passing, predicting of the game, feathery touch and ability to make it look easy is unrivalled. What a player to watch

I get a decent amount of joy in watching the Suns consistently fold in must-win games.  Several guys on that team who I don't like very much.

So I'm not going to accuse a guy of "quitting", but I will say Ayton has been such a frustrating player in this league. All the talent in the world, but his head isn't always in the game and he's very inconsistent. Even Monty, who by all accounts is an awesome coach gets annoyed with him and at times has called him out to the media. I think the Pacers may have lucked out that the Suns matched the contract offer. If Ayton was consistent and played to his abilities, the Suns could have been a juggernaut even with CP3 out the last few games.

I know the Warriors-Lakers series isn't over, but if LAL advances then I'm glad it's Denver and not Phoenix. Because AD and their frontcourt would abuse Ayton. At least with the Nugs you have Jokic and AG who can present unique problems. DEN will definitely give GSW/LAL a good fight and probably win the series if Murray and MPJ can keep it up alongside Jokic

Man, I know they got Durant and they're missing CP and Ayton, but you simply can't trust this Phoenix team in the playoffs.

  • GOT IT!!!
Suns will get dunked on after this series but they were completely outmanned from the jump. They have no depth and were fortunate the Clippers were hurt again or they would have gotten bounced there.

Ayton has all of the tools to be a quality #2.  Maybe even a #1 on the right team.  Size, mobility, hands, touch.  Doesn't have the timing to block many shots but he can do so much on the court.

He just... doesn't.  He'll have an occasional game where he reminds you what he could be, and then he goes back to being invisible for two weeks.  Frustrating as hell to see.  Can only imagine how Suns fans feel about him.
