1. Tatum is 21 points ahead of Embiid for the total points scoring title. Embiid is sitting out tonight.
There isn't a total points scoring title. Tatum is 21 points ahead of Embiid; however, he has also played 428 minutes more than Embiid this season.
It’s just arbitrary and really the only sport that looks at averages. The HR champion is the one who hits the most HRs, the rushing leader is the back who rushes for the most yards.
Also, we can’t control if he’s playing, but if he does play these are two things to root for in otherwise meaningless games.
That is not true. The batting champ is the player with the highest average not the player with the most hits.
Ya. Obviously. But it has to be. The number of official ABs is going to vary from player to player even if they play the same number of games. MLBs two other key stats (HRs and RBIs) are totals, not averages. Also any time you have one of those stats that’s based on averages, there is also a minimum number of games played requirement. This attests to the fact that totals are important.
I’m not saying the scoring average leader is irrelevant, but It’s not an insignificant accomplishment that Tatum is going to lead the NBA in total points. In this day and age of load management availability is the best ability.
