Yes, they are overrated. They have a rookie coach. What are the chances that two rookie coaches make it to the Finaps in back to back years? How long did it take Coach Bud (a superior coach to Ime and Mazz) to win a ring?
Would like to see how you came to this conclusion
Coach Bud? More experience. Also he won a ring.
You think Mazz is better than Bud? Not sure how many agree with this.
I think Coach Bud is supported by more willing owners who enable his FO to make great moves (Holiday). Prior to that stacked big 3, many thought Bud was holding that team back.
Are you making the point that Mazz>Bud?
No, I'm still waiting for your argument as to why Bud is better beyond "experience" and winning a ring. Is Doc Rivers a better coach than Brad Stevens was?
He was the year that he won a title, for sure. Since then, Doc hasn’t been great. Bud hasn’t had as many playoff letdowns as Doc did in LA.
This is a silly argument. Bud is one of the best coaches in the league with Kerr, Spo, and Pop. Mazz doesn’t have a resume to compare to Bud… yet.
I'm not sure I'd put Bud in that class, but when he took the Hawks to the ECF in 2015, it had been 45 years since the Hawks were in a conference finals and that at the time and still is their only 60-win season ever. They are basically an original team so there is that. He then goes to Milwaukee and they go from a 44 win 1st round loser, to 60 wins and the ECF before winning the title in Bud's 3rd year. The Bucks hadn't been to the Finals since they had Kareem/Oscar in 74 and hadn't won since the title in 71.
There is something to be said for a coach that comes and immediately has the most successful season for a franchise in basically 50 years. And then turns around and does it again with a different franchise.
