I think we've had an open roster spot since January 5, when we traded Vonleh.  If that's accurate, we've saved almost $3 million by not filling the spot.

Because we don't have an actual role for anybody.  We already have a couple of decent players who don't get minutes.  We're basically looking for an emergency guy to sit behind the other emergency guys. 

Most NBA journeymen still want to play, and we can't realistically offer that opportunity.  We'll eventually pick somebody, but I wouldn't expect a useful piece tbh.  Just somebody who can try hard for 5-10 minutes if crap really hits the fan.

Agree with this. It’s really a fit thing. As fans we would love to have a guy who can competently play as an 8th man if needed but is willing to sit the pine Blake Griffin style until he is needed, which could be never. It’s hard to find that type of person for a minimum wage

I feel like it's about playing time. Need a vet who is willing to be in the Blake/PP/Musky roll at SF. If we are going to look at season and playoffs that SF spot is where a new player slots in.

I think offering $3.24 million, as opposed to the $500k other teams can offer, would go a long way toward compensating for that diminished role.
