Good good

That was pretty close to my guess on the contest!

2 2nds seems like a bit of an overpay tho....

Yeah, I'm curious as to which two seconds.  If it's both of them from this year, that's not cheap.  If one of them is protected, far off, or a swap, that will feel better.

I wonder if one is the Houston pick which could turn out either very good or nothing.  I think it’s protected to 32???

It’s protected to 32, but if that happens then we instead get a pick from Dallas or Miami, so it’s a pick either way.

I'm laughing at some of the negative comments on Twitter about him from C's fans

Obviously Muscala is not Jokic/Embiid, but he is still a very solid backup big that can shoot and can easily give them 10-15 mins a night. Gives Horford/Timelord a little bit of rest down the stretch if he can eat up some minutes. He's also not a pure liability on defense (not elite, but not horrid).

That's one thing we did need. His shooting ability and size (nearly 7 feet) can make him a sneaky good weapon too. Kornet/Griffin were huge for us last night but it won't always be like that when both Horford and Timelord are out (or even just 1 of them).

One pick to get Muscala, one pick to dump Jackson.  We could have taken Muscala into a TPE, we didn't have to include Jackson.  So a second round pick to save some money.  fair enough.  Second round picks can be purchased around the draft.

Yeah looks like they wanted to keep that roster spot open for probably a buy out they have in mind. Which also means this might be it or its just going to be swapping PP,Gallo,Grant for an other player. No Derick White splashes this year.

Forsberg said that Muscala slots into the Schroder TPE. If so, why did we include Jackson? Aren’t TPEs supposed to be used independently and not packaged with another player?

Getting rid of him? Luxury Tax implications.

Instead of just including him in a single transaction? I'd actually expect it to be the Danilo injury exception, not the TPE. Either way, considering OKC is under the cap, they can take Jackson straight. Presumably using the injury exception has a positive tax implication.

It's probably structured as two separate trades.  The first is MM for #2 + TPE.  The second is Jackson + #2 for some random asset.

Does Muscula have an option?  If so, I don't think we can use the DPE on him.

Ah. Touche. Well then hopefully we can use it today on a wing (McDaniels).

Yup, that makes sense. Then the Gallo injury exception can be used for potential buy outs. I think this is a solid move by Brad.

Good move. Now get a wing via buyout.

Solid move. Budget version of Gallo or Olynyk, and we didn't have to give up anything major to get him. I also like that he has a reasonable team option (3.5) next year if we want to keep him.

This is an absolute steal.

Since the start of 2020-21, Mike Muscala is top 75 in box plus/minus, with averages of 18.3 PTS, 7.6 REB, 3.7 3P and 1.1 BLK per 75 poss and a 39.7 3P%.

Over the same stretch, OKC's NetRtg was +3.0 with Muscala on the floor and -8.1 with him off.
