The 5 out offense is just stupid!

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Indiana shooting 50%overall and 47% from 3

We are shooting 34% overall and 20% from 3

Our shooting has really deserted us…historic regression to the mean. I feel like they are getting ok quality shots just missing

I can live with the shooting but the blow by drives and fast break points are too much. They need to stay in front of guys.

Tatum and Brown need to take over this game. Less White more Brogdon too.

They don’t even look like they want to play anymore

Yeah that's the most concerning thing by far. Something's not right with them.

Continue to just jacking threes. Absolutely no adjustment from Joe.
again, indiana has taken more threes than the celtics. the problem is not taking 3s. the problem is more not making 3s.

We get it, that is not the point.

Yes, the Celtics are missing ............. so adjust, do something different, take different shots, get the ball and players moving in the half-court. Drive the ball. Hell, run the flex, I don't care, just something other than iso 3's !!!!!!!
I'm typically right there with you on offensive diversity but to be truthful, they're missing 2's and layups too.  what's inexcusable is the non-existent defensive effort.

they need to do more multiple drive and kicks to force the defense to go into rotation and relocations to the perimeter to get wide open 3s rather than just running a couple of actions and taking the first 3. Or run some pick and roll to get midrange shots

there was no help def on that TJ coast to coast layup....sheesh.
help out your team-mates fellas
The lack of teamwork is obvious on offense and defense.
Bring back Ime.

What was the Celtics record this time last year?

15-17 so it’s definitely salvageable. But I think Joe needs to start to ch he his approach, it’s times of adversity like this that the team needs a firmer hand. Especially when it comes to putting in the effort, especially defensively where they were giving up layups, anytime you give up layups and offensive rebounds you always babe to question the effort. The rest of the issue just looks to be poor execution, turning the ball over.

Were the Celtics not being coached with a firm hand this time last year? Bottom line, players need to get it together. They were playing dominant basketball just a few weeks ago and now they seem to think they can get the win by just showing up. Team has a target on their back after making it to the Finals. Every opponent is going to get up for them.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:
Quote
At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

And I was so looking forward to going into our big Christmas Day game on national tv as the best team in the league.

Some of our problems lately is not making shots.  We are in a huge slump shooting the basketball.
But it isn't all just shooting.  Teams are just going off on us night after night now.  Hard to watch tonight.

Yep, this.

More and more I've come to think that this is all bad habits after winning the first part of the season on hot shooting and high-efficiency offense. There were warning signs of not playing the right way - particularly defensively - with us just trying to outscore the opponents. Now we're not used to winning games through hard work and defense that was our entire MO last year. It should've been a major red flag to us that our entire game and philosophy seemingly switched over night.

Worse - Joe is just continuing to encourage this by refusing to make any adjustment and hanging his hat on the shots starting to fall. So the guys just continue to play that way, jacking up bad three after bad three because that's the direction they're given.

Ime truly, royally screwed us this summer. I really don't think we're having these issues with Ime. We likely wouldn't have had such a good offense to start, but we'd been much more well-rounded and not falling to these lows with him.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

No argument from me on those points.

That would have been a layup under the rim from Halliburton if the Pacers hadn’t messed it up

This isn’t regression to the mean. This is problematic basketball.
