Why not share the facts with the players behind the scenes and let them vote by secret ballot on whether to have Udoka serve out the annual suspension and return to his role, or see if they instead vote to replace Udoka with Mazz?

It is early, but it feels like perhaps our coaching situation could be somewhat akin to when the Patriots moved from Bledsoe to Brady? Mazz has been impressive!

That's not their job to decide that. That's why Brad gets paid the big bucks and that's why Wyc has the big bucks. The players job is to play, not figure out who they want to have as their coach. What would be the benefit compared to the downside to having them get involved in personnel decisions and decide who they want to coach them? If some vote for Ime to become coach again and some don't and the result goes one way, whoever voted the other way will be wondering which of their teammates voted the other way. Disaster in the making.

If you are an employee in a company do you get to choose who you want as your boss?

I don't see there being a coaching issue. Gary Washburn keeps bringing it up but I think everyone knows that Ime is done with the Cs, he's not coming back. They just don't want to have to run into legal issues by terminating him now.

Honestly Greenly I prefer some of your more out-there trade proposals to this suggestion

Lol. The GM and Owners should bear the responsibilities of personnel decisions. The Players already have too much on their plate. What would happen if the move misfires, whos gonna take responsibility? The players could be held accountable for messing up someone else's job.

Mazzula might be a better coach for this team than Udoka.

So, even if this wasn't a horrible idea that would never happen in the corporate world, and yes the Celtics are in the corporate world, why bother? Mazzula has been great.

The C’s have the best record in basketball under coach Mazz. Really weird timing for this thread.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I’m trying to think about what world that would happen in.  I’m not saying it’s not a good thing to give players voice but with regard to high stakes decisions, it’s just not their job. Also, let’s say the vote is 8-7 or regardless of the vote,  what if Jays are on the losing end or Jays are on opposite sides… so many opportunities for something like that to mess with chemistry/unity.

My big concern is that perhaps most of the players are holding down the fort until their coach comes back. Or perhaps they’re just better under Mazz and he’s who they want. Hopefully the latter. But what if it’s the former? How do you really know unless you share the facts with the players and let them say their piece before making a final decision?

If the facts are as bad as some have given the impression, I’m hoping if they just share the facts with the players, they’ll all agree it’s time to move on from Udoka and then we can do so, and put this all behind us on our way to Banner 18.

We’re number one in the league with an interim coach. Can we really keep this up with a suspended coach and interim coach? Is it not best to fire Udoka when we are number one given that Udoka only landed us at number two last year?

I'm waiting for a big WWE style return.

C's are in the playoffs, losing a pivotal game.  Mazzulla's been ejected.  The team's huddled up trying to figure out what to do, Udoka's music hits, runs of the tunnel, joins the huddle, fires up the team, C's go on a huge run and win the game.

Next game, they're interviewing both Mazzulla and Udoka pre-game.  The interviewer asks the tough questions about who's in charge?  Udoka says, I'm hear to do whatever it takes to help the team and then offers a handshake to Mazzulla. Mazzulla thinks about it, then shakes Udoka's hand.  Crowd erupts.  Udoka/Mazzulla raise their hands in victory together.  But once Mazzula turns his back, Udoka hits him over the head with the clipboard.

Leadomg to Udoka vs Mazzulla in a lumberjack match (with the players as lumberjacks) scheduled for SummerSlam.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I don't understand what your goal is.  We've won eight in a row.  Why are you trying to rock the boat now?

As far as I'm concerned, we don't need to mention Udoka again until next offseason.  We can cross that bridge when we get there.  In the meantime, let the team focus on basketball.  They've earned our full buy-in, so let's enjoy the ride.

We’ve still got a huge problem after the game because this is probably his WWF music:

🤣 🤣 🤣

TP for the win. Even funnier if you picture the video with Udoka with a mask on his chin when he pops out of the shower to say, “hello ladies”

Kudos to anybody who can top this one ☝️
