Anyone listen to the interview? It would truly be the end of an era.  One of the all time GOAT announcers.

Also, the only acceptable replacement would be Grande, IMO.

Mike Gorman this morning also seemed to insinuate that he will consider retiring from calling Celtics games at the end of next season.

Would be very sad, but the guy has more than earned his retirement. Living legend for the franchise.

if it's after next season, send him off with back-to-back titles.

greatest play-by-play in the game for many years.

Grande has been pretty good in his place but it's just not the same watching the road games now.

It's going to suck.  Mike is just as much of a legend behind the microphone as Tommy or Johnny Most.  Hopefully the Celtics honor him appropriately.

He’s 77 in 3 weeks, so it’s really not surprising. When Tommy died (and stopped working as much over the preceding years) it forced me to think about how Mike would be retiring some day, sooner rather than later.

I’ll miss him

One of my favorite Gorman stories - after Tommy says something ridiculous, Gorman would pause for a while before responding.  That way, it would be harder for him to be included in the clip when it's replayed.  Love him (and Tommy too of course).

It’s going to be pretty weird not hearing Mikes voice during C’s games, but I think it’s the right call considering he’s approaching 80.

I’d like to see Maxwell and Grande take over. Cedric is a little crazy, Which I like. Move Scal to the radio.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Grande has called a few of the Cs' last games with Scal. They have a good chemistry at least. I will miss Mike though!

Mike has earned it.   I wish him the best thought I will miss him.  No one has ever displayed his knack of talking just the right amount.   He also never talks about himself unless asked.   One of kind announcer.

Respect.  Mike is one of the greats, and I'd much rather see him retire gracefully on his own terms instead of hanging on for too long like Marv Albert did.

One of my favorite all-time best memories is listening to games done by Mike and Tommy and Cous.  I'll always love those guys.

Gorman is the best ever, but he has been slipping a bit. Makes a lot of mistakes, but he's so good you hardly even notice them...We were very Lucky to have him for all of these years.

They should just have Grande and Max do the games. Don't wanna listen to Scal after Mike leaves.
