Shams Charania: Sources: Nets have delivered Kyrie Irving six items he must complete to return to team: – Apologize/condemn movie – $500K donation to anti-hate causes – Sensitivity training – Antisemitic training – Meet with ADL, Jewish leaders – Meet with Joe Tsai to demonstrate understanding – via Twitter ShamsCharania

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Silver should do Tsai a favor and suspend him for the rest of the season. That will finally rid them of him and his contract.

I see no scenario, not even a title, that would be worth employing Irving. Would anyone really want to celebrate with him? Durant lost a couple of his last great seasons associating with this nincompoop.

Irving hoisting the trophy would be an embarrassment.

On a side note: how do Kyrie's actions with the Nets alter our perception of his comments insinuating that Boston is racist?

A lot of folks carried his water back then. But did he make those comments in good faith?

Or is he a self-absorbed, unaccountable fraud?

That seems a lot for Kyrie’s ego.

Any chance Kyrie is doing this in an attempt to get to the Lakers?

If he gets cut does he keep his salary?

If his plan to get himself to the Lakers includes turning himself into such a radioactive personality than no team can sign/trade for him then it's a terrible plan.

Which does not mean it's not something Kyrie might have come up with.

Oh, I wouldn't put it past the Lakers to sign/trade for him.

According to CJ McCollum, the President of the NBA Players Association, Cryrie didn't watch the movie before linking to it. That was my initial thought too, because anybody with half a brain who would have watched it would have realized that there was a lot of really objectionable material in there, and being associated with it publicly was going to be a PR disaster. (I'm pretty sure Cryrie has at least half a brain, but it might not be the half that is responsible for cognition.) But @Roy H and @No Nickname brought up some good points that Cryrie has shown support for Ye and the tenets of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement in the past, so it would have made sense that he watched it and posted it. So maybe McCollum is trying to make excuses for Cryrie by pleading ignorance?

It's about time he actually said something as the President of the PA...because there's a lot of media commentary right now, including from progressive journalists, on how the players seem to be very quick in speaking out on social justice and racial issues as long as they are dear to their hearts (e.g. BLM) and rightly so, but when it's something like this, where they may have to criticize a brother criticizing another marginalized group, it's crickets. Candace Buckner at the WaPo wrote a good article about how it looks...hypocritical?

McCollum made his first public statements on Irving on Saturday night following the Pelicans' loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

"I think the important part was he did apologize," McCollum said, referencing the apology Irving posted on Instagram hours after he was suspended by the Brooklyn Nets.

"He's displayed empathy now. I think this is a learning experience in which I don't think he understood the magnitude of the movie because he didn't watch it. I don't think he understood the magnitude of the people that were affected, how they were impacted and how fast hate can spread and how this can snowball."

In his apology Thursday night, Irving wrote that the movie he had posted about "contained some false anti-Semitic statements, narratives, and language that were untrue and offensive to the Jewish Race/Religion," adding that he took full responsibility for the post.

"It's safe to say that we know that Kyrie and all of us -- me specifically, I can speak for myself -- specifically condemn antisemitism in any form," McCollum said. "I am specifically against it. I specifically believe in promoting equality, diversity of inclusion."

Not to be all #NotAllNBAPlayers - Robin Lopez retweeted Kareem's article pretty soon after Kareem hit publish. It is a shame that more players haven't come out and said that this is as trash as it is, though.
"...unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it."

Kyrie is a self absorbed unaccountable fraud. He's the guy who "thinks" he's the smartest guy in the room.

Lebron maybe to the point he doesn’t want to deal with Kyrie anymore either.   Westbrook , now add Kyrie antics , basketball is going to be secondary always to Kyries personal agenda. Maybe more drama than even Lakers want.

I'm curious, have our own PA reps said anything?  Brogdon, Jaylen and Grant are all VPs, and Pritchard is our player rep.

Of course, Kyrie is a VP, as well, which probably tells us about as much as we need to know.
