This is a bummer we didn’t give favors a look.

So he could sit in on the bench with Blake?  He’s someone I wanted pre-season when Rob got hurt, but it’s unlikely would have or would now offer us anything we need.
I disagree, he's better than Blake at this point in their careers and I would prefer him as the C backup to Kornet. Last night, tiny Alvarado put the moves on 7-foot Luke. That's just not acceptable.

Favors game tanked last year.  There’s no evidence that he’s better than Blake.

If the Celtics management felt that Favors was better than Griffin, then they would have signed him instead of Griffin, if in fact Favors was willing to sign with the Celtics (which I don't believe is a given).  There are several other contenders that would appear to need a vet big for their bench (Brooklyn for example) but Favors didn't sign there either, 10 day or otherwise.

I don't know which is the reason, that the Celtics don't think Favors is good or that Favors didn't want to play in Boston.  It is quite possible that it is some of both.

I think that Griffin was signed before Favors was bought out, if I'm remembering correctly.

Correct, that's why earlier in this chain I said I had wanted Favors when Rob first got hurt, but once we got Blake the need mattered less.

I still think it would have been worthwhile to take a flier on Favors. He’s a legit center and several years younger than Griffin. There is no risk with a 10 day contract and you’d actually get to find out if he’s better than Luke or Blake. You say that Favors game tanked last year, but you don’t think Griffins did? Nobody wanted him. He was an emergency signing after Gallo went down. Pretty sure Favors would look better with the C’s than he did last year on OKC who were one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Favors was salary-dumped, cut, and then didn't sign with anyone for three months.  I'm not sure how you can argue that he's any different from Blake in terms of value around the NBA.  We got Blake first because he was available.  Maybe we would have gone with Favors if he were free then, but he wasn't.  We didn't, and don't, need both.

If Favors is a free agent again after the deadline, then sure, we can kick the tires, but right now it's better for the team to have the open roster spot heading into trade season.

I agree in the short-term.  The deadline for the first TPE is the 19th; adding a 10-day player could complicate making a trade.

But, I don't think we necessarily have to wait until the trade deadline to add a piece.  If we're going to complete a trade, presumably we could dump Jackson in a corresponding move.

There’s no value to adding Favors, or anyone else, for the next few weeks.  If we need a body that’s what the 2-ways are for.  Having a roster spot is useful, and we should keep it unless we’re filling it with a trade.  Yes, we can cut Jackson, but then we can’t trade him if we need to for salary aggregation in a different deal.  Brad has shown no hesitancy in making trades, and the more flexibility the better.

My only exception to the above is if we needed to promote Samanic before losing him, and even that is only of extremely marginal value.

Since Portland's 10-4 (W-L) start, they have gone 9 wins and 17 losses since.

I understand the criticisms of Doncic’s overall game (i.e. defense), but I don’t know that there’s another player I’d want more if I needed a basket in the last minute.

Embarrassing display by the refs in this game. Missed calls and incorrectly made calls on both sides all night long.

The Lebron travel, the Westbrook/Schroeder debacle, what looked to be an obvious foul on Brown on the last three point attempt, etc. and that’s just the last minute.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
