Favors went to Georgia tech. Maybe that made Atlanta appealing to him. 28 other teams could have signed him. I don’t know but I would think that if he was open to it, the Celtics would have signed him.

Nerlens Noel, Rich Paul and Klutch Sports Group settle Noel’s legal case – with Noel paying full commissions owed to Klutch Sports on the $5 million Knicks deal in 2020, and Noel withdrawing all legal proceedings.

That was obviously feed to Shams by Klutch.  Did Noel get anything from the suit?  Or was he just sick of paying legal fees?

Can't imagine Noel got much.  Maybe he was able to get back some commission for the minimum salary contracts he signed.  Notably, by the NBPA rule, the standard commission of 4% gets reduced to 2% for minimum contracts.

The Favors situation has been odd to me all along.  I would have expected that some team would have signed him right after he was released.  Seems like he could be a useful player for number of contending teams, including the Celtics.  He did not play in the game for ATL last night although he was available (at least he was on the box score as DNP-CD).  It will be interesting to see how he plays, if he plays.  It is a chance for him to show some team he can play, if he really wants to play (it is possible that Boston did want Favors but he didn't want Boston).

It is tough with all these possible players, Favors, Reddish, and so on.  Would they help the Celtics or just sit on the bench?  Probably the latter in most cases for these "scrap heap" players, players who are not on a roster or who are sitting on another team's bench.  I am with Celtics2021 on this, we don't need any more end of the bench players who wouldn't even play in the playoffs, even if they are a little better then our current end of the bench, never play, guys.

That’s assuming everyone is healthy for the playoffs. Outside of Malcolm and Grant, the Celtics bench is unreliable. The reserves had 25 points last night and Brogdon accounted for 20. Hauser started off the year hot, but over the last 10 games he’s been playing 12mpg and averaging 3.7pts, 2rebs while shooting 33% from 3pt. His defense is mediocre at best. Kornet hasn’t looked good lately, either. If you can upgrade even slightly and get some more bench depth, you do it. Especially if the cost is second round picks or a 10 day contract.

The likelihood that Derrick Favors would be any better than Blake Griffin is very low.  And Blake is already behind Kornet for most matchups.

I disagree, he's better than Blake at this point in their careers and I would prefer him as the C backup to Kornet. Last night, tiny Alvarado put the moves on 7-foot Luke. That's just not acceptable.
