We play Brooklyn on Thursday in Brooklyn on the second night of a back to back where we have to travel and the Nets are off for three days. One of the many ways the NBA rigs the system. The Nets also have two nights off after the game!

Anybody saw Scary Terry's performance the other night vs the Bucks? Season-high 39 points and brought fear to the deers. Nice to see him doing well nowadays

It’s honestly getting hard for to tell what is even a good game anymore I’m the juiced ball era. There were 6-7 guys with more than 20 points in the kings lakers game tonight. We are routinely seeing scores that are on par with the all star games.
I have no idea what is happening to cause this. Pace isn't outlandish or anything like that, offensive efficiency is just absurd. It's like the NBA had a collective offensive epiphany over the offseason.

Both AD and LBJ seem to play significantly better when alone. That Davis game against the Suns where he went 37/21/5/5/2 was one example

KD goes down with a knee injury. Doesn't look too serious, but I wonder if he misses the Celtics game on Thursday.

Brooklyn gifted a W in Miami with a terrible missed foul call on Butler’s go-ahead layup at the buzzer. Should have had two free throws to win the game, with even the Nets broadcasters saying Miami got screwed.

Another terrible look for NBA officiating, particularly since the refs made the complete opposite call against Sacramento last night on marginal contact that cost them the game.

Feel like the nba desperately wants the nets to be relevant.

they most definitely do.  a relevant Nets team brings in the biggest TV market and with 3 well known players on the roster, they'd also pull in the casual viewers that tune in to watch people they've heard of.

Durant has an MCL sprain and will be re-evaluated again in 2 weeks, so he's out until then

Wonder how that'll affect the Nets over the next few weeks

Michael Scotto: The Knicks are willing to part with Reddish for two second-round picks, league sources told HoopsHype. The Lakers, Bucks, and other teams have inquired about the asking price for Reddish, who was shooting a career-high 44.9 percent from the field before being benched, HoopsHype has learned.

The JHern TPE ($6.9M) expires on 19 Jan.  Reddish is making $5.9M so we could get him for 2nd round picks (if this is true).  What do you think?  Is he potentially better than Hauser, or at least better at some things?  Would he be in the playoff rotation (I have my doubts that Hauser will be)?

He has been an enigma.  Total under-performer.  He had his "change of scenery" and that didn't seem to change much.  I would say that I have always been intrigued by him but understand it is highly unlikely that the Celtics would take on his salary, and for that matter, that another change of scenery would result in a more productive player.

But...if we could get him (for next to nothing) and get him focused for a few months, the potential to be that bench wing we need is intriguing.  He is going to be an RFA this off season.  You would think he would realize how important it is for him to be on the court and to play well.  Problem seems to be that he just doesn't get it.

NYK:  Reddish

Yes, we should do that deal.

Didn't watch much of Reddish in NY but my read on him in Atlanta was that he had a viable 3-and-D skillset but lacked the mentality to match.  He wants to be The Guy rather than a roleplayer, but he just isn't that good.  Doesn't do any dirty work.  6'8" but doesn't rebound.

If he committed to defense and ball movement and if the three ball improved some, he could be a solid piece somewhere.  But I see him as a long-term project, not a guy we plug in who helps us now.  Rather stick with Hauser, tbh.  The shot is showing signs of coming back around (37.5% from 3 over the last 10).  And on a broader level, he has demonstrated willingness to work on his game and he understands what he's good at on the basketball court, neither of which I'd confidently say about Reddish.

Pass.

That’s an interesting project there. Plus, he’s also a Dukie so maybe JT can knock some sense into him. Definitely a low risk high reward situation.

2 2nd's for Reddish seems like a solid trade to make.  Especially since you could always trade him again if he didn't work out.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

We have a bunch of conditional 2nd round picks that I am not sure exactly what we can trade but I don't think this is going to come down to the picks.  In this case, it would be bringing in about $6M of taxable contract (less by Jackson's contract if they are willing to take him back as Roy suggests).  But this is a lot of money for a player who can't get off the bench in NY.

I know some will say they don't care about the owner's money but there is no sense in doing this if Reddish is just going to sit on our bench, just be a more expensive version of Jackson.  This only makes sense if you are fairly certain he would in fact contribute, including in the playoffs.  I am not sure the probability of this is quite high enough.
