76ers fall short. 4 games behind Celtics with 20 left and Celtics have tiebreaker (least I assume). 76ers play bucks tomorrow in a game I don’t know who to root for.

Root for Philly.

Root for a Embiid/Giannis fight resulting in a multi-game suspension for each.

Another 19 shots for Westbrook and Hyland out of the team's 89 shots. Do you really want more than 20% of your offense coming from these two guys?

not when they go 5 of 19.  Of course George was 3 of 15, Powell was 1 of 9, Gordon was 6 of 16.  Basically no one except Kawhi shot well and he was -24 in 32 minutes.

Kawhi really is his own boss on the Clippers lol. He already announced himself that he won't play the next game (I'm assuming "load management")

Clips have lost 4 straight. Currently in the play-in tournament BUT only 1 game ahead of the 10 seed (2 ahead of 11 seed). George recruiting Westbrook may have been a mistake. He's not the only issue on the team obviously, but he certainly isn't helping matters either. Look at how the Warriors guarded him. They guarded him like he's Ben Simmons who can't hit any 3s or jumpers.

But my biggest thing, I know everyone talks about Westbrook and the fit, but I still think the Clippers biggest question mark will remain health. Everyone assumes both PG13 and Kawhi will be in the postseason but can anyone definitively say that? We heard that last season too and Kawhi missed the game and the Clips lost to the Wolves. Plumlee was a solid addition, but I still think their frontcourt will also get absolutely abused when they play teams with elite bigs (like Jokic, healthy AD, etc)

In a year they were widely touted as championship favorites, the Clippers have their worst record through 65 games since Blake Griffin’s rookie season.

Kawhi's lack of availability is the Clippers biggest issue.  His on/off differential is +10.3, but with 8 games and 1256 minutes played that just isn't enough.

if the season ended today, in the West Denver is #1, Phoenix is #4 and GSW are #5. I would LOVE to see the first round matchup of Phoenix vs GS. Ohhhh the storylines. I'm actually not sure who would win in a 7 game series. Then the 2nd round would either be Denver v PHX/GSW. Must see games for both rounds. I hope that these seedings stay this way.

In the East, I've been wanting to see a MIL/PHI playoff series for like the last 5 years.  Hopefully C's can retake #1 seed, setting up a MIL/PHI 2/3 second round matchup.

And Miami vs either MIL or PHI in Round 1 could be fun.

Or PHI/BRK round 1 could be fun to see, just for the Ben Simmons hate.

Out West, a healthy Clippers or Pelicans has the potential to for a great 1/8 or 2/7 matchup (like what most NBA fans thought BOS/BRK was going to be last year.

A lot of intriguing mathcups that I think could be really entertaining (including the potential 4/5 PHX/GS already mentioned).

I'm guessing Phoenix is going to catch Sacramento for 3rd.  They are 3 games back and should overcome that especially since they play twice.

If the season ended today, the C's would be in perhaps the most difficult draw they could have with Miami (if they win the playin game), Philly, then Milwaukee.  That is rough.

It's insane MIL has won 16 in a row. But we're still just 0.5 behind them.

That March 30 game between the two teams could literally be for the 1 seed. Not just because of the game, but also the tiebreaker. So it could be a 2-game swing either way for either team depending on who wins. Really hope the C's are healthy and show up for that game this time on the road.

I'd like to think PHI can pull it together for a game and win tomorrow with Embiid looking MVP-like. But I know it'll probably just be another game where it's close, but then MIL opens up the 2nd half on some 20-2 run or something and puts away a demoralized PHI. I've seen that story before.

Baxter Holmes was on Twitter promoting this piece from a couple of years ago on the load management & injury phenomenon:

It's pretty much not what you expect from ESPN (in other words, its very good), and well worth a read if anyone hasn't seen it before.

Yeah, good article.

I have a just turned 15yr old that has great body control, good athletism and decent bball instincts. He loves basketball, but because we travel a lot and have him do other things (music, sailing in the summer, skiing, he is a star on the xc squad) he doesn't have much game experience. He was maybe the 9th man on his JV squad because he hadn't been gaming as much as these AAU kids, but so many people could see his fluidity on the court and all this promise. It was a frustrating year to not see him get the playing time. He's really dedicated to working on his shooting and handling this off season, he should prolly start for JV next year.

I'd really like for him to play in college, if he wants to, for like a div3 school or something. His real meal ticket will be on the xc team. Maybe the lack of basketball specialization will help him in the long run. At least in terms of injury as the article suggests. He may blossom late and be better off for it.

But its just amazing these other kids that are just basketball basketball basketball all the time, I figured he was already too far behind....but maybe not.

I won't be surprised if some of the owners start pushing back on contracts in light of all the load management that happens these days, or in the case of someone like Kawhi, linking a player's salary to health because they're injured so often, because it's ridiculous to pay someone $30M+ a year to play, like, 50 (or fewer) regular-season games, and sometimes not even be available in the postseason.

Probably not.  A lot of “load management” comes from management, not players.  There might be a star or two that has a bit more voice, but teams rest players a lot.  As for Kawhi, the Clippers literally resigned him weeks after he had torn an ACL.  No pity for them.
