Don't think this bodes well for Ime. If Stoudamire had any chance to coach with his good friend again, I don't think he'd make the backwards step to an awful ACC team.

Speculative. Stoudamire has close ties to GT and the area.

Yeah, plus it’s long term security.

Stoudamire was a head coach at a WAC school before becoming an NBA assistant, and is now moving on to be the head coach of an ACC school.  That’s a step forward in his career, not backwards, and he’d have taken it regardless whether or not Udoka was the coach this year.

There’s a certain irony in Joe Dumars issuing a fine to Marcus Smart for playing like Joe Dumars.

Informed after Saturday’s win that he leads the NBA in total points, Tatum made clear his priorities. “The only thing that matters to me is winning a championship,” said Tatum. “Not MVP, not first-team All-NBA, none of that. I want to get back to the Finals and get over the hump.” – via Chris Forsberg @ NBC Sports

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think this literally sums it up for the Celtics

- Record when Celtics shoot 40% or higher from 3-point land in a game? 26-0

- Record when Celtics shoot less than 40% from 3-point land in a game? 21-22

This team truly is a "live by the 3, die by the 3" team. When the 3s aren't falling, they are unable to adjust AND they also can't rely on their defense most nights like they could last season or even the previous 3 years as a whole.

I guess you can say that if the C's can shoot beyond 40% from 3-point land most of the postseason (at least 16 games), they'll win it all. But that's a dangerous thing to just assume and probably unlikely lol

Seems like their hot shooting to start the season may have been a disservice, convincing them they could have long-term success with that strategy. But they just don't have a lot of guys who shoot a great 3pt% at high volume.

Yep.  Shooting 40% from 3PT is extremely difficult.  The only guys on the team hitting that mark are Brogdon, Hauser, Horford and Grant (barely).

Meanwhile, Tatum is shooting 35.2%, and JB is at 33.3%, which is awful.  Smart's better than Jaylen, at 33.7%.

Tatum's shooting is the biggest differentiator:  in wins, he shoots 38.0%.  In losses, he shoots 27.6%!!!

(That's something either the player or the coach might want to adjust to.)

I've been saying for the last couple of years that Boston has basically been trying to be Golden State, but that such an approach was foolish because GS has maybe the two best shooters in NBA history and Boston ... does not, LOL. It seems that the early-season success convinced Boston's "powers that be" that they'd taken the correct approach (actually, I think they were already convinced, and this was just further confirmation), so now I guess we're stuck with this.

The reason they shot high percentage 3s back in Nov is because they moved the ball very well to find open players taking spot up 3s, however we mostly take step back contested 3s by Tatum and Brown now.  Even Smart shot 40% from 3s back in Nov.

Too much reliance on Tatum and Brown (and Smart) to take the 3s is what causes our offense to sputter as the stats shows.

Btw Brown should modify his 3 pt shooting form  as he contorts his body too much and jumps too high to make it a consistent form. Look at the way Curry and Kay (or Brogdon) shot if he wants to improve, as they are of similar height. Coaches should have corrected this, but oh well.
