This seems pretty random.  Makes sense in some cases, not so much in others.  Draymond Green, sure, but Bam Adebayo?  Why are people mean tweeting at him?

But the Celtics, wow, 3 in the top 10.  Not sure what this means.  I guess they are jealofosof (in the immortal words of Jermaine Wiggins).

Being somewhat of a social activist and an intellectual and eloquent might have something to do with it. I think it may be less related to basketball in that sense. Surprised Lebron James is not in there although maybe the positive tweets evens out.

So I read this list as 3 categories of players

1 - Guys that are pretty universally disliked i.e. Smart, D. Green, Paul

2 - Guys that have taken some controversial positions, and generally don't get many tweets i.e. Brown, Simmons

3 - Guys that don't get many tweets and performed poorly at key moments - Tatum, Bam, Young, Butler

Then you have Gobert who is probably all 3. 

Someone like Lebron who just gets so many tweets, most of which are positive, is just going to have the volume of good that outweighs the bad.

I think it was a combination of that, and Steph Curry stans being upset thinking Smart purposely injured him last season.

I think it's the flops that gets him the negative tweets if anything... and his shot selection. The latter from Celtics fans.

Another thing I was thinking of, a lot of those guys probably get a higher percentage of negative tweets from their own fan bases.  I mean a lot of C's fans are tired of Marcus taking a lot of bad shots, Green getting suspended with his antics drives Warriors fans nuts, Simmons and his hiatus from the Sixers, Gobert with his play and the whole covid stuff, etc.
