Absolutely pathetic that he’s not getting suspended. This isn’t even about “winning above all” because Draymond isn’t that good and they could easily weather a 5-10 or whatever-game suspension without him.  It’s a disgusting mentality that thinks what he did is completely normal behavior because it’s “in the heat of battle”.  There’s no battle.  It was a boring walk-through and Draymond got his feelings hurt because he was called a name and decided to sucker punch something with their hands down

I think one of the big takeaways is that the Warriors do not agree with the bolded - if Draymond's on the court play wasn't worth the PR hit, he absolutely would be serving some sort of suspension.

The thing is, I really don’t think it will be a PR hit.  It will be in the news for a bit and once the season starts, it will be an after-thought.

I agree.  This will be forgotten by the fans soon enough.  Fans will still show up to games.  To me it is more about getting the trust back with the team, the other players.  Do they really want him back.  Are they ready to go to war with him.  And this isn't just about Jordan Poole.  I think the hangover from this is going to last a while.  It won't necessarily be obvious or public, but it will be there.

Draymond has baggage.  Think of that person on the plane that is trying to stuff 3 big things in the overhead compartments.  Green is taking up way more than his share of the baggage space.  It impacts everyone else on the team.  I think the team is going to look at him differently now.  The antics and all are going to play out differently.  They have to figure out what this new normal is going to be.

Sure. This is almost certainly what Golden State's thinking is as well - it's a bit of a flowchart
Quote
"Do we need to suspend Dray?" -> Yes/No.
"No, it looks bad, but not that bad. Public opinion is 50/50."
"Ok. Do we need to fine him?" _>Yes/No.
"Now that the video is out, probably yes."

At the end of the day, nearly all pro sports teams put winning above nearly everything else - unless you're literally an Aaron Hernandez, the rest is just lip service. Green is more use to them on the floor than off the floor, so Golden State is to punish him as little as possible.

Unless you have Ime Udoka on your team and need to suspend him but two very different things but the concept of punishment should be similar.

Not that I'm complaining, I think Joe Mazz will do a good job this season.

You're just figuring out how this professional sports thing works with punishments?

Good thing it wasn't an owner doing the punching, everyone would be calling for him to be banned for life.

I know how it works. I saw Draymond mug Jaylen Brown in finals last year and the refs said they couldn't give him a second T. The NBA lets certain players get away with murder and it's been that way for a long while!

Jalen Rose just said the Warriors aren't winning the championship this year because of Draymond's incident.

Well, Jalen, the Warriors weren't winning any championships this season to begin with. The Clippers will take them down when fully healthy. My dark horse pick in the West are the Nuggets.

But at the end of the day, the Celtics will win Banner 18 in June 2023.

Kerr ""He broke our trust, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt because I think he's earned that," Kerr said.

He almost broke a team mates jaw too.  But yeah, we don't need a suspension.  That's crazy talk..(sarcasm)  my god Kerr....I used to have a lot more respect for you.

I'm pretty curious about the amount of the fine.  I mean if it is like a 5 million dollar fine, that may change my view on whether or not he should have been suspended.

The Golden State Warriors failure to suspend Draymond Green after he punched teammate Jordan Poole will cost them the NBA championship due to the internal chaos it has caused, Jalen Rose says. “I’m saying when you choose not to suspend him…their dynamics of that relationship will never be the same,” Rose said Wednesday on “NBA Countdown.” “And so therefore how can we coexist?” He added: “The people that’s riding with Jordan Poole won’t forgive Draymond, and they also are going to be mad at the organization that they didn’t suspend him.”

I agree with this.  Not sure how big the impact will be or for how long, but I think it does affect the team.
