My preference is to move on because I don't like being in limbo.  I thought Udoka did a good job last season, but not so good that I consider him irreplaceable.  We have a good roster and there are other good coaches who can lead them to a strong season, health permitting.  And I have serious concerns that our guys, particularly those with a lot on the line this year, won't trust him the same way when he returns.

Not knowing all of the facts, I still support Ime.  If all this was was poor judgment, I think we can show him some grace.

As a Christian, I believe in grace and second chances. I’m concerned, though, that having another coach this year, with plans to bring Ime back next year, could be too disruptive, possibly throwing individual players and the team off track and setting back their progress. Even if the interim coach is an Udoka disciple, it won’t be the same, and there’s just too much of a possibility of discontinuity.

I agree with this. I want Stevens to win it all as interim HC and Udoka to be given a second chance as HC in 2023-2024.

You realise Stevens isn't the interim coach though, right?

I see this as a really selfish act by Ime and he really let the team down. He had all the success in the world but it wasn't enough. So angry.  >:(

Yes really poor judgment from him. It's one thing to have a consensual relationship but it appears it wasn't entirely consensual.

He keeps drumming this Stevens drum, what do you guys say in Australia? There will be a snowflake's chance in hell that Stevens becomes coach again.

Hopefully we have a Luke Walton / Steve Kerr situation.

I am not religious but I am married to a Catholic.  Even not being Catholic, I love Pope Francis.  In an interview once, he was asked what he thought about gay men getting married.  He just kind of raised his palms/fingers towards the sky and replied "Who am I to judge".  I thought that was awesome and I actually think back on that often when I am faced with certain things.  This Ime thing is an example.  I don't know all the details.  What he did hurt the team that I am a fan of.  He made his statement that did the most possible to put the team in a good position on this.  Who am I to judge him as a man.

I don't know if I ever want Ime back as the coach but the good thing about his statement is that it keeps the possibility open for both parties.  It sets it up that he could serve his suspension and come back without apparent burned bridges.  Or they could part ways over time.  At a time when it is not so impactful on the players/team.  The Celtics can say we enforced our rules, Ime served his suspension, apologized for his actions, now we are giving him another chance, or they can work out a "divorce" over time.

About as good as you can hope for as an outcome of this.  As to Ime, I don't like that his actions have hurt the team I am a fan of but I am just a fan and this is really just entertainment.  I am not happy with any of this but I am also not going to hate on Ime or try to find fault with the Celtics.

This off season has been a roller coaster.  I was so happy with things after signing Gallinari and trading for Brogdon.  I thought we were stacked.  Then injuries to Gallinari/RWill and now this.  Wow, what a turn of events.

That’s what SAS does. Makes everything about race. Best not to repost the nonsense.

Stephen **** Smith is a racist and should be banned.

How do people have a strong opinion on this without knowing what he actually did?
Probably because all that we have heard is that he jeopardised our season, and that he has completely derailed this upcoming one too.
I think completely derailed is a bit much.  Players still far and away the most important part of the equation.

If anything Ime's camp probably leaked it. Because the initial leak was that it was a consensual relationship that he was going to get suspended for. Which would generate sympathy for Ime. Most of us were surprised why there would be a lengthy suspension for a consensual relationship between two adults. Unless of course there was more to it - either it was a) not consensual, b) was initially consensual and ended up not, or c) there was a power dynamic which could imply coercion. And the subsequent reporting suggests that there was some element of non-consensualness to it. I'm trying to work out why the Cs would leak it to ESPN before they had time to package it into a statement and a narrative.

Yeah, this is not Stephen A’s strongest assertion.

My personal pet conspiracy is that this was leaked to distract from the fact that Jalen retweeted some of Kyrie’s vaccine nonsense. Idk why SAS won’t run with that one.

Yeah, I don't understand the thinking that Woj's source was from within the Celtics.

I guess it could have been Joe Mazzulla, trying to make the gig permanent, haha.

The entire story is an embarrassment to the organization. You're the coach of the Boston Celtics, to me that is like a top 5 dream job in this world.. how do you mess it up?

If you're gonna cheat, keep it outside of the org. Ime could probably land 95% of the women in this world. The whole thing is just so idiotic it is truly impossible for me to comprehend it.

Just fire him why let this linger and continue to be a distraction? If I were Stevens i'd either step down and get back on the bench or be calling Quin Snyder every hour until he accepts the position.
