Other than Brogdan this off-season has been a disaster.

Eh, not sure I agree. Gallo=overrated regular season player. Rob Williams had a cleanup procedure. I think that’s a good thing. I’m excited about Brogdon, and so is Vegas. The Celtics are in great shape.

Wow.  What a disaster.  The Celtics have to protect the business entity. Look at the Suns and what their idiot owner did and now he has to sell the team.  From a business point of view this needs to be done to protect the franchise.  I'm just shocked that a engaged man with the supposed morals and integrity of Udoka would do such a thing.  Even if he did have (doubt it) an open relationship.  Don't Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.e where you eat.

So does Brad now have to step in and coach for this season?

I agree with CIO, in that, if you exclude the fantastic Brogdon trade (which of course you can't do in an overall evaluation) the off-season has been a bad one.

We went into the off-season with a $17.1 million TPE, the Taxpayer MLE, a couple of other TPEs, and several open roster slots.

We've come out of the off-season getting no production from our T-MLE, we let the big TPE expire, and we've filled the roster slots with fringe NBA players.  We've upgraded at backup PG in a big way, but we've downgraded at backup center.  Now, our starting center is out for perhaps a month, assuming he heals correctly (i.e., not like Lonzo Ball).  And, our really good coach who the team had bonded with is gone for as much as a season.

To me, that's a disaster.  It's not "a Brown gouged Tatum's eye out in a cage match" disaster, but it's pretty bad.

Roy, We haven’t lost him for a season though. Until that happens, why expect the worse?

I think a lot of this off-season has been overblown by the media. The KD stuff was TMZ BS. This Udoka stuff is all speculation. He could be gone for 2 weeks. Why were people excited about Gallo,  a guy that wasn’t projected to play at the end of a playoff game?

I’m just seeing overreactions everywhere.

Not what woj said. He said likely. Woj doesn’t know yet.

Good grief, Ime. Just fire him and move on. No reason for a season long suspension to then just bring him back, especially given this is just his second year. As much as I like Ime, this is such a bad look, and he’s screwing over our best prospect season for a title for a long time.

Just seeing this. How do we know it’s an affair? Any sources or just opinions?

Shams.  Consensual relationship with a staff member that violated team policy.
But this merits a year's suspension? And why don't you fire him?  There has to be something more to this.

I think we’ve seen Udoka coach his last game with the Cs. He’s never going to coach another game. They suspended him for a year. He’ll quit. And the Cs don’t have to pay him.

Presumably the team policy allows for punishment “up to, and including, termination”, or some sort of similar verbiage.  Mitigating circumstances could include cooperating when it came to light, and/or being an otherwise exemplary employee (you know, for getting to the Finals).  I don’t think there’s too much more.  The Celtics have discretion, thought it was serious, but still want Udoka in Boston for the long term.

I don’t know what happened but if they are going to suspend him for a year, just move on.
I don’t know how you can expect players to respond to an interim coach? Also, what if they excel and win? Do you just tell a coach that got them there that Ime is back, thanks?

I just don’t see having someone come in for a year knowing they are out after that

I'm still confused as to what specifically happened. All these tweets and reports make it sound like they are sending Ime to Guantanamo Bay or something

Perhaps ownership doesn’t wanna lose him to some other team? Unless of course Ime quits? (I also posted this in the Brad thread so sorry for cross posting)
