Just a little humor based upon past overreactions.

But, I've got to say, my confidence level has taken a hit in the gut.  A couple of months ago, it looked like we were going into the season with a fully healthy team, adding two huge components in Brogdon and Gallo, and on the verge of signing Thomas Bryant.  Now, we've got no Gallo, no Bryant, Timelord is going to miss the start of the season, and our backup center is Luke Kornet.

I'M THE SILVERBACK GORILLA IN THIS MOTHER... AND DON'T NONE OF YA'LL EVER FORGET IT!

Sabonis / Brand / A. Thompson / Oladipo / Brunson
Jordan / Bowen

We badly need to sign howard, whiteside or cousins based on the Rob injury. Kornet is just not a rotation caliber player. We have enough evidence of that.

With this bench and the history of injuries Boston has with certain important players…third best in the east.

After brogdan, white and grant the bench is full of guys that should never see the court unless of a blow out.

I don’t see the logic in counting on Kornet and Hauser for major rotation minutes. They are career g league players that offer zero to a team that should contend.

The pick transfer to Indiana is top 12 protected, so Boston could in fact tank.  And because it doesn't carry over and just turns into a 2nd round pick there would be a real incentive to do so.

Obviously Boston isn't going to tank, but if Tatum or Brown does go down for a while, I do think Boston should consider it, as painful as that is.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

You tank this season how? Sit Tatum if brown gets hurt? Even brodgon, white, Horford, smart, Williams is not going to be bottom 12. I think that would be the dumbest thing I ever heard a team doing in my life to try and potentially save one top 12 pick. Probably lose tatum and brown long term over doing that.

Rob will be back by Dec at the latest if there are no set backs. This is a bit of an overreact.

BUT

We so need a better option for back up. I'm for cousins cause he can play for Rob or Al in the back to backs. He won't give you alot but he doesn't need to. And he can stretch the floor which helps.

Cousins, Howard or whiteside will all fill a need, we not go 6 weeks of kornet given horfords minute limitations.

Dwight has decided to try his hand at reality TV rather than play basketball.

If Tatum or Brown goes down sure tank a season. Warriors did it then came back and won a chip. They extended their competition window doing it.

Ok mark it down fellas. September 20th is officially the date that some fans lost it. A thread on tanking cause our 4th best player is missing 3 weeks of action….. I know this was started in jest by roy but the people saying we should tank off there is an injury to brown or Tatum good grief. If Tatum got hurt the team still has brown, smart, brodgon, white, Rob Williams, Horford, grant Williams… I mean come on.

Jaylen averages over 30 a game in games Tatum misses over recent times. I am sure with Brown out Tatum goes for over 30 a game too. If one of those guys goes down, that type of elite #1 scoring option doesn't disappear when only one of those guys get injured. Not too many teams in the association can claim they have that.

It's because of that that this team could never tank if just one of the Jays is injured for a prolonged period. Dip to .500......definitely, but they would never fall so far as to be bottom 12.

Now if both Jays got injured long term and Al and Rob still missed time, sure tank like crazy and don't bring back the Jays until next year. But I seriously hope that's not the case. Everyone get healthy stay that way through the season and playoffs and I can see playing for another title.

Totally agree, although I must say I’m feeling better about having taken the under on the Celtics at 54.5 wins last month.  My disappointment has been successfully hedged.

But what about when he goes out again later in the season, as is likely?

In the predict the Celtics wins next season thread, I went with 55 and many questioned why such a low number.

They now have their answer(though I gave it at the time too).
