What about Miles Bridges? Might be suspended but why not take a chance. Before you laugh, look back to 1977; Red traded Charlie Scott to the Lakers for Don Chaney and Kermit Washington. Washington was suspended at the time (for around 2 months) for punching Rudy T. and Red still traded for him.

Punching a player and beating the hell out of your wife repeatedly are two different things.

Apples and oranges. Washington was a bodyguard of sorts for Kareem, but a solid defensive player and aggressive rebounder in his own right.  Amazing story from childhood to present day is Kermit Washington.  Hard to know how to characterize it. I guess mostly tragic.  In some ways, given his childhood, he was a remarkable success. Mental illness abounded in his family - mother was bipolar and his older brother took his own life in 1984. Kermit was a success in many ways in his basketball life and then there was the Rudy T incident, and then there was the embezzlement conviction for which he’s still in prison.  But at various times it seems he had success and by some accounts was a likable guy.   We'll see if there’s another post-prison chapter to his life.

I see your point, but this was not just a 'punch'.

Kareem’s punch on Kent Benson was dirtier.  The outcome wasn’t as severe but it was dirtier and an absolute cheap-shot

Washington’s punch probably should have killed Rudy T.  It was a big punch from a huge, strong guy flat in the face of a guy running right into it.  But… it was a knee-jerk reaction.  He felt someone was attacking and he reacted.  Thank goodness Rudy survived.  I would guess that Washington would have served prison time for it if Rudy didn’t.  It was scary and tragic enough as it was.

The way observers described the sound of the punch is a bit sickening.  And the arena apparently went silent. Also too bad that there wasn’t footage of the events prior to the punch. There’s been a lifetime of dispute and bad feelings about what actually happened before the punch.

After seeing the pictures of what Miles did to his wife and listening to his little boy describe the incident in such a casual way because of familiarity with it signing him would be a hard no from me. We don’t need a wife beater in our team no matter how bad our need is.

If Horford is going to start again but play reduced minutes and sit a lot of back-to-backs I really want to see another reliable big on the bench.

Maybe Grant is going to continue to improve but he's just not very big. I know Gallo isn't a center but I think he's taller than everyone in the starting lineup.

I'm worried about all those games Al and Rob inevitably miss. Maybe one of Vonleh/Caboclo/Kornet really pops this season but that feels like a gamble. I wonder how much Utah views Jarred Vanderbilt as part of their future and what he'd cost.

So he’s out this season and likely will opt into 2nd year though unlikely to play until the latter part if at all. This is terrible news.

I don't think an ACL should keep him out 13+ months, and certainly not 16+ like you're predicting.  But, it sucks.

This is one of the reasons that dumpster diving for end of bench free agents is a lousy strategy.  There's nobody to step in.

For a 34 year old player, That is unrealistic recovery period. And to be back 100%, 18 months at that age is optimistic.

Sadly he is done. He certainly won't be back in time to help the Celtics this season.

I was looking forward to the team’s improvement beyond the arc. Gallinari off the bench would have been a weapon.  Cs solid off-season is now less so although Brogdon was obviously the much more important addition.  I want Brad to replace the 3-point threat that Gallo was going to be.

More injuries will happen.  Who, what, how long, and when will determine the Cs fate in 22-23.

I have no faith we will ever see Danilo Gallinari play a game in Celtic green.

I hope you're wrong about that. I would also like to see Hauser get a chance... I hoping for an expanded rotation this year.

Gallinari was a bad signing. C’s already had Grant as a suitable backup 4. Danilo has played more than 70 games twice in 13 seasons and he’s below average defensively. He averages about 55 games played per season which is not good. This was the first move of the Brad Stevens era that I didn’t think made sense. Unless he thinks there is a good chance that Grant doesn’t return.

Getting past the triggered trauma of 5 minutes of Gordon Hayward, it’s taking a while to find a potential bright side to the Gallo injury.   Of course the first positive by comparison is that 34 yo Gallo is no 27 yo Hayward. Next is that the promise of 2018 included Kyrie Irving.

But then, there are the possibilities of what can emerge as a result of 15-20 newfound minutes in the rotation.  Depending on who Brad signs or trades for in the next few weeks, it’s possible that the loss of Gallinari is negligible.  Especially true if the opening becomes a door for someone like Hauser to become a weapon off the bench.  Unlike a number wishful thinking failures (Edwards, Romeo, Nesmith…), Hauser showed he could shoot in NBA games in his limited opportunities.  At 6’8” he could be an ideal sharpshooter if he is able to get his shot off and grow his ability to stay on the floor defensively.
