I think this lowers our odds (but not significantly) of winning NBA championship with Gallo out for the year...until we pick up another depth player or two.

Sign me up for Melo and Dwight. You guys want championships? Come here.

I asked this previously - what is the hesitation with Howard ?
He is exactly what we need inside and I thought his drama days were behind him.

I didn’t like this signing from the beginning. C’s biggest need is a true backup 5. Really don’t like G-Will at C.

Agreed

The Globe is reporting that we’re unlikely to bring in anybody to replace Gallo, with Hauser getting first opportunity at a rotation spot.

Yeah, sounds right to me. I don't think there is anyone out there that can replace Gallo. I saw his main value as being able to play as a small ball stretch 5 with some secondary value as a shooting PF.

I thought G-Will had his number at forward for the majority of situations and Gallo would only be the superior option there in moments of desperation (offensive despair). Gallo's main value was his ability to play center as an offensive minded center offering a completely different type of skill-set to our current centers. I felt that is where most of his minutes would come from particularly in the postseason.

I see nobody out there who can replace that role. Therefore, I agree with not replacing Gallo.

I do see guys who could be of service in different more basic roles such as a defensive center but I see them competing more with the likes of Kornet and such. Not as a replacement for Gallo but a replacement for those 11th-15th guys on the roster.

It has to go both ways.  I could see Dwight holding out for LA or MIA or BKN.  You can't assume he even wants to come to Boston.

pretty much every move since the acquisition of Brogdon confirms Boston doesn't think it is winning the championship this year.  It let the TPE expre with even a partial use.  It tried to upgrade from Brown to Durant. It has been carrying 10 legit players and won't bring in anyone with experience.  It hasn't used the two little tpe.  It won't replace Gallo.  Not acting like a front office that is trying to win a title this year.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

It think it's acting like a front office with budget restrictions.  My guess is that Brad's budget was $17 million + taxpayer MLE + minimum contracts.  He chose to spend the $17 million on Brogdon rather than use the TPE.  That's on Wyc and Pags moreso than Brad, I think.

But, there's no real financial reason to be bringing in guys like Kornet, Bruno and Vonleh over better players.  That's just a poor choice, I think.

True. They're just wasting time, money, and spots bringing those 3rd/4th-stringers in. It's pretty obvious the C's need to win now, not develop players or bring in scrubs to warm the bench

They don't have to make a move now, there's still time before the season. But I would really think about bringing in Carmelo. We needed bench scoring during the postseason last year (especially against Golden State) and Carmelo is capable of providing that. He also wasn't a headcase in recent years with Portland and the Lakers and in fact it sounded like he was a model teammate. I would do it. This team is trying to "win now" and I think Melo would buy into that as well.

Agreed.

And bring in one of Boogie / Whiteside / Dwight.

If they're not signing Carmelo (or other wing) and one of the remaining bigs they need to open up the wallet and use the two TPEs.

What about Miles Bridges? Might be suspended but why not take a chance. Before you laugh, look back to 1977; Red traded Charlie Scott to the Lakers for Don Chaney and Kermit Washington. Washington was suspended at the time (for around 2 months) for punching Rudy T. and Red still traded for him.

Punching a player and beating the hell out of your wife repeatedly are two different things.
