The Celtics revealed their Bill Russell city edition jerseys today.

They will honor the late Russell at tomorrow’s season opener with a Russell tribute game featuring performances throughout the night from artists like Aloe Blacc.

I still don't like the jersey, but the information about Slade's mitigates that a bit.

The Slade's info also mitigates my less-than-favorable opinion of the jersey, but I'm still not crazy about it. I like the idea of referencing Bill's 11 titles, but I'm not sure about the dark green—did the Cs ever wear that shade of green during Russell's era? And although I understand the use of gold—all the trophies, and Bill being the "gold standard" in the NBA—I was hoping they'd use yellow, which was part of the Cs color scheme in the '50s and '60s and has really, IMO, been underutilized.

Personally, if they're gonna screw around with these alternate jerseys, go back to the New Three era St. Paddy's Day jerseys or the throwbacks that the '07-08 team wore for a bit.

Of course, the correct answer is just home whites and road greens but we know those days are over.

Yes, this still strikes me as a decent alternate uniform for the Milwaukee Bucks.

I'm with you on that but unfortunately we live in the era of the easy money grab that is marketing of varying jerseys for those that feel compelled to have every variation.  I don't get it but that's me.
