This news was mentioned elsewhere but since it’s been given its own thread, I’ll add that Stevens seems to evaluate players similarly as Masai Ujiri, so Caboclo seems right in line with the Celtics.  Begarin and Davison both seem like Caboclo-style picks, albeit in the second round rather than the first.  Hyper-athletic players with basketball bodies who need a lot of skill development.  At age 26, maybe Bruno finally has enough to be an NBA reserve, and hopefully Begarin and Davison develop more quickly and fully.

Just looked him up. 6’9”/220lbs with a 7’7” wingspan. Freakishly long arms. Plays the 3/4. Decent athlete. Shoots 3’s, but not at a good percentage. Think he will be on the Brazilian FIBA team.

Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:
Quote
At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

As a Brazilian I am excited. I remember him being drafted as a reach in the first round. Guy is athletic but was playing in the Brazilian league and not even big minutes. I don't think he's a big fixture for the national team so really, not much to expect but it's nice to have another Brazilian on the squad.
Baby Jesus!

Begarin, sure. Not Davison, who was a top recruit out of HS with demonstrated PG feel.  Not a pure athlete without skills.

I expected Bruno as a body for preseason..I really don’t think he will make the team with Kabengele there

His skills were good for low-level high school competition, but his college experience showed they needed a lot of development.  His highlights in college (for example, postering Walker Kessler) showed his elite ceiling and were what got him drafted, and not his current skill-level.  Sure, he’s different than Begarin, in that he’s a 6’2” point guard and not a 6’6” wing, but in both cases it’s the athletic talent that got them drafted with the hopes that the skills may some day catch up.

He probably won’t make the team, but he’s trying to be be Sam Hauser’s backup, and Kabengele’s presence will have limited impact.

Caboclo did wind up shooting 45% from 3 when he was in France for half a season, so maybe he’s made some modest improvements at that skill which can translate.

I’m hopeful it’s clicked for him because it’s easy to see how he fits.

Hey it's Bruno Gabagool. I'm sure he's been cured to perfection.

He also traded for White and Brogdon, and signed FA Gallo, none of whom is noted for his athleticism. So not sure if there is any particular trend here worth noting.

It's only a camp deal but he does have NBA athleticism. If he can defend he'd be a good end of bench guy. I think he can play 3 positions. If he can defend those positions he'd be useful in Ime's system. If he can shoot the 3 even better. Probably just a space saver.

Remember him well. Famous quote from Fran was "hes two years away from being two years away"

I think he's 6'7" shoes off with a 7'7" wingspan.  Just insane.  He's a lot less athletic than I remember,  but he's put on lots of weight so he does look like a big man now.

I'd be surprised if he makes the team. Seems to play lazy to me.  Played 23 mpg for the grizzlies is a short stint, other than that has barely played big minutes.

I didn't realize his athletism was gone. I guess I'm remembering him from his younger days. He does look more like a big now:

You see lack of athleticism, I see a guy playing more under control.  No need to try to jump through the roof every play when you have a 9’3” inch standing reach.
