At NYC Point God premier in Manhattan, Celtics star Jayson Tatum was asked about reports of BOS talking to BKN about a trade for Kevin Durant. Tatum says that he loves the current Celts team.

Jayson Tatum to reporters at Point Gods movie premiere when asked about Kevin Durant trade rumors: "I’ve played with him during the Olympics. He’s a great player. That’s not my decision. I love our team. I love the guys that we got. I don’t know if that report is true or not."

That's the typical answer that he should give out...smokescreens. Let 'em keep guessing.

PP34 answer is funneh tho.

One very important factor here - Is Brown happy in Boston and does he want to be here more than any other option.

He seems to read too much media and maybe chat boards like this one and then take criticism to heart.
Kinda reminds me of Durant.

If he does really want to be a long-term Celtic, trading him for Durant is a bad move for so many reasons already mentioned.
Celts have already significantly improved themselves and need that one additional piece inside to back up Rob and Horford.
And I think that additional post player is crucial to winning a title.

However, if Brown really is unhappy here, you have to consider it, though you would be trading one discontent for another.
Surely Brad and Ime are on top of this situation and have been in close contact with Brown.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I hope this is all smoke and mirrors with no legitimately.  I love this team as well and feel they have more then enough to beat anyone.  I want Brown extended not traded.  I am not a KD fan and all of the ball movement and fun basketball will be gone with us watching KD and JT take turns going 1 on 5.  I think the cs can win it all next year and still have assets to make a deal.  I really hope nothing is done and we get to see this team take shape.  The crazy part is we will see further developments for Brown Tatum Timelord.  White should provide improved shooting.  Grant knows his role and will be better focusing on his ball handling and post game.  This team will not be better with Durant and no smart or JB

This is a weird take. KD can play in any offense. Just because the Nets iso’d all the time because that was the only play Nash knew doesn’t take away KD’s time in GSW

Don't try to be happier than happy.

We got to the finals and have had a very good offseason with major additions and only loosing a back-up center. The future is bright.

No need to out think yourself and make major changes to what is already working and looks like it will continue to be even better. It's the wrong time for taking a step back to hope for two steps forward.

If Kevin was GM in Bkln we could maybe get Durant for Kornet, Hauser, and a few bags of potato chips.

I see what you're saying and generally agree. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I feel that a Durant trade is worthwhile if and only if: a) the Celtics get assurances he actually wants to play here, and b) the package is similar to what the Celtics are rumored to have offered (eg. Brown and While plus limited draft capital).

Right now the Celtics are slight favorites to win the title next year. A move like that would make them PROHIBITIVE favorites for the next couple years, in my view. I'm not sure if that's necessarily the case if you include Smart, your defensive captain, for instance.

Bottom line for me:  I wouldn't trade KD for Jaylen Brown, straight up.  I believe reports that Jaylen is very happy in Boston. I believe as constructed, with the Brogdon and Gallo moves, we are in a very good position to go to finals again and win it all this time.  I like sticking with home grown talent, and maintaining a strong nucleus that is young, with the prospect of competing for many years to come.

Let me ask you this. Would you do Both Williams, Smart, and Pritchard, plus firsts for Durant?

Per Weiss of The Athletic last night:
"For all the hiccups in Brown’s relationship with the fanbase, he’s still committed to Boston. When WEEI’s Jermaine Wiggins claimed that Brown told him he wouldn’t re-sign in Boston when his contract expires in 2024, Brown was perplexed and denied the report behind closed doors, sources familiar with Brown’s thinking told The Athletic. In spite of the trade talks, Brown wants to be in Boston."

Look if Brown wants to stay long term, you definitely roll forward with a locked in Brown and Tatum + great team around them.

Agree. They have a chance to compete for titles for years. The challenge is getting that commitment from him and him sticking to it 2 years from now. But that's what Brad gets paid the big bucks for  :police:

that's a tough one at this point.  it's not that Durant isn't clearly the best player in the deal by a wide margin but that trade absolutely guts our team depth not to mention losing 2 starters.  The C's no longer have the Fournier TPE to fill in the roster nor would they have any assets left to trade to fill the new roster holes either.  There's no free agents left anyone can point to that would solve the serious depth issues we'd now have.   that's not taking into account that Durant is not the least bit dependable in committing to playing out his contract.

I see what you did here. It's a rhetorical question which removes JB from the equation. However, the fact is that such a deal would never happen: Bad return for BKN and not enough picks for the C's to offer.
