They will certainly need center depth, as Al Horford is expected to sit out most back-to-backs and have his minutes limited even further next season, according to team sources. ... Kornet has shown an ability to rotate across the paint to block layups and space the floor in pick and pops, but being a commanding presence in the paint is not quite his style."

The article implies that Begarin has a good chance to stick and explicitly says that team sources say Brodric Thomas and JD Davison are expected to compete for a spot.
Likely competing for a two-way spot which implies there's a third guy they have planned for the 2nd two-way spot. These are huge stakes for these young guys as there's a substantial salary difference between G-league vs. 2-way vs. full roster spot.

If Boston truly wants to compete for championships then there is no reason to let a TPE expire just because of cost.  Now sure, if you don't find a player that makes sense that is one thing, but there are reportedly guys out there available that would fit into the TPE that would, if nothing else, provide some quality depth and insurance.  There is no reason Boston shouldn't be making moves.

BTW, is this a possible candidate for a roster spot for a 3rd/4th center? Have to think not, but...

Summer League head coach Ben Sullivan says that Trevion Williams' passing has really stood out. Sullivan says Williams is "such a willing passer" and that his vision and ability to see the floor is high-level for a big man.

Williams' passing is an NBA skill. If he could become average at defense he'll have a role.

Fine, but actually you made my point even if I was wrong about which spots they are competing for.  There's a lot of money at stake for these guys, and it still holds true that there's competition for the two-way spots.

Those Trevion Williams passing highlights are impressive.

He only had 3 assists per game but played only 20mpg. That is an impressive total for a big man. Purdue played a slow pace as well. His per 100 possession stats have him at 9 assists per 100 possessions.

I'm just relaying info. I should have used the quote instead of paraphrasing it in my original post.

They extended his guarantee date to 7/8 as part of the deal.  My guess is the Spurs are waiting to see if they need the cap room, such that they’d stretch him rather than just release him.

Re: Ayton, I'm not totally opposed to picking him up if the situation is right, but he's one of the most overrated players in the league.

The Nets have no interest in him. The Suns don't want to pay him, even though he's a hometown boy, and drafted by them 4 years ago. If TL & Al are healthy, I don't think he cracks the starting lineup.

He's certainly intriguing. I'd like to sign him to a two-way and give him some serious run in the G-League. See if he can shed 5-10 more lbs and get a bit more mobile

Agreed!
What are the names you have heard reportedly available that are realistic and at what cost (ie draft pics, etc)?
