Free agent center Luke Kornet has agreed to a two-year deal to return to the Boston Celtics, league sources tell @YahooSports.

No thanks.  This better be as a mascot.

I’ll hold my reaction until we learn how much is guaranteed.  A partial deal for training camp, it’s not my money so whatever.  Fully guaranteed roster spot for two year, no thanks.

Honestly, he's a really good 5th big man to have on your roster. His pick-and-roll defense is above average, and his size makes things hard around the rim. That's a legit NBA skill to bring in off the bench.

His problem has always been that he was a theoretical stretch 5 that couldn't shoot well, and he doesn't really bring that much more to the table offensively.

I'd love to have Thomas Bryant in that position (and we still make get him), but Kornet is solid.

Somehow Kornet is still a career 32% 3 point shooter in the NBA.

I still think that's a Michael Finley conspiracy situation -- players that you can remember shooting a lot of shots, but can never remember one going in.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I don't think Kornet has shot an NBA 3 in the last 3 years. Those stats are mostly from the beginning of his career.

Roy, those towels on the bench don't wave themselves. kornet has a clear role as the designated heir to M L Carr.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

As long as the number isn't silly I don't have a problem with him as a third-string big.  I don't want to give him any greater responsibility than that, however.

Kornet is going to coach a tanking Celtics team only to miss out on Tim Duncan?

Hope he’s just there to be the 14th man and the 2nd year is non-guaranteed. We need a 5 that’s ahead of him to play for when Rob is out.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I’ve come to realize that Brad just really likes Luke as a person. No reason to bring him back other than him being a good teammate - especially this early in FA
