Per Shams Hardy to become HC of Jazz.

Wow, good for him.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The Utah Jazz have offered Boston Celtics assistant Will Hardy the franchise's head coaching job and he's finalizing a deal to accept the job, sources tell ESPN.

There is a growing resignation in Dallas, sources say, that the Knicks are indeed Brunson’s top choice and his inevitable destination. More: https://marcstein.substack.com/p/brunson-sweepstakes-just-got-real – via Twitter TheSteinLine

Sucks for Dallas. They are likely going to lose their second best player for nothing. The return for Porzingis wasn’t very good either, IMO. I’m confused as to how Brunson is an UFA after just finishing up his rookie deal with the Mavs, be being restricted… anyone know why that is?

Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac has agreed on a three-year, $33 million extension, his agents Jeff Schwartz and Mike Lindeman of @excelbasketball tell ESPN. The Clippers declined his $7.5M team option for 2022-2023, clearing the way for Zubac's new deal.

Westbrook has opted in for 47 million. They are to be trapped into running it back. Very few salaries will match Westbrook and the lakers repeatedly have refused to sweeten with picks.
couldn't have happened to a more deserving franchise

Overpay. Zubac is a minimum contract guy.

i'll add to the chorus: the Mavericks have had a belief for at least the past couple weeks, multiple sources tell me, that Jalen Brunson would sign with the Knicks. at this point, it's seen as a certainty.

It has seemed to be going that way and it means a couple of Knicks will become available to create cap room with Burks and Reddish most often named. Noel is in the same ballpark as Burks if Burks' recent surgery is an issue.

Is Reddish just considered trash at this point? I've seen him light it up a few times and I know he's mostly been hurt but is he just a net negative at this point? Is he an upgrade over Nesmith? He's still only 22. Worth a look? I think I'd send a second rounder for him. He fits into the 5.9 million exception.

Drummond. Dwight.

Zubac is a 3rd stringer pretending to be a starter.

Mark Murphy: Marcus Smart on all that trade talk: “Every year my name is in talks, and I’m still here. I’m still the longest tenured Celtic. So I take it as a compliment. It means you’re valued pretty high and if your name is talked about people want you. But I don’t pay much attention.” – via Twitter Murf56
Top Rumors, Trade, Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics

Mark Murphy: Smart on C’s attracting free agents: “We got a bad rep in Boston for (FA’s). This year we opened a lot of eyes to how this team really is. It’s not everybody for themselves. Everybody is for each other, and I think maybe (FA’s think) I can give it a shot in Boston. We’ll see.” – via Twitter Murf56

Yes, and Dallas chose to sign him to a four-year minimum deal.  If they’d signed him to a 3-year minimum he’d have been restricted last summer.  They got the benefits of his year 4 at the minimum, but at the cost of him being an unrestricted free agent.

Ironically the agent who agreed to that 4-year deal on his behalf is the executive trying to sign him now.
