I do wonder if Celticsblog have players on the team that they like. It just seems all summer long all people have been doing is bashing the team.

This is a good point. From the beginning of the playoffs, you would think that the Celtics were the disgruntled Lakers by many accounts on this site. We’ve got a good thing going here. Why does anxiety seem to get in the way of what could be enjoyment?

I agree. I think there's a difference between critiquing this team and bashing it. Way too often, this board ventures into bashing and complete negativity and it was on full display during the playoffs. In general, there are swaths of this fanbase that are very pessimistic and unfortunately, the debbie downers are always the loudest. We're seeing it now with Jaylen.

Is he disgruntled? I don't believe he is. He can be unhappy with the loud fans that constantly put him down and want to trade, but have a great relationship with Brad, Ime, and his teammates. These are the people he interacts with day to day, actually know him and aren't just basing their opinions off of 2 social media posts.

Two posts that Jaylen only liked and might have zero effect on his life and not be an overriding opinion on how he feels about life.

I know I certainly can't remember the last two likes I had on Facebook or who or what I gave my last two TPs to. None reflect my current status of thought or how I feel about it. They were likes and TPs. That's it.

It's quite ridiculous.

I think the title of the thread is a little misleading.

Is Jaylen disgruntled? I believe he's currently rather gruntled in Boston. But look at the history of the league in regards to secondary stars.

Players of Brown's caliber almost always believe if they were given the reigns with the right players, they would be a superstar...heck even Pippen thought he could do it better than Jordan.

Doesn't this create the Groucho Marx paradox?

I would never date a woman willing to go out with me

I want to win a tile, but I would never want to have a really good 2nd best player on our team

I don't buy this.  Was Curry disgruntled when he won titles with Durant.  Was Davis disgruntled when he won a title with LeBron?  How about Middleton?  Some "Robins" may feel this way depending on who the Batman is and how well the team does but it is in no way the norm or the expectation.  It is more common in fact that top players want to pair up, not go off on their own.

It's weird that you seem to be suggesting that JB is unhappy with the fans, but that fans shouldn't question whether he's happy.

Thank you. There's tons of bashing in the game threads and lot of it is parroted back from - as you mentioned - local radio.

Question his happiness until you're blue in the face, I just think it's comical to try to gain insight into his inner thoughts and future plans based on his social media activity or who takes a picture with instead of his actions or what he's actually said.

I have been saying (as have others) that you shouldn't rely on twitter or Instagram to gauge if Brown is disgruntled.  The same goes the other way.  This post tells me nothing for sure about his state of mind other than he must think this is a cool picture.

He tweets one day and it is we need to trade him and he posts a week later and it is all good?

I get the urge to better understand his motivations for resigning. I’d love to see Brown and Tatum finish their careers in green. Durant>Brown, but I don’t think this will be true in 3 years. Danny set the stage for sustainable success, and I see no reason why we should mess with the plan. I’m not sure how many fan bases would want to trade places.

There will be anxiety until they win a title.

Fans watch them play and in the middle of the game threads, of course most of us get emotional. When Jaylen or anyone else turns the ball over or takes a bad shot or doesn't box out, fans get upset. Being a serious fan is all about the emotion you have surrounding your team. We see mistakes that cost us a game and want those mistakes fixed. That's normal. Of course fans look for anything that might help the team get over the hump and that's where we are with the Celtics right now. This particular group of players give fans plenty to complain about because they are now good enough to have won the title, but didn't because of repetitive dumb play (and a bad offensive scheme I think).
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

The Celtics are a young team that will require patience. The overreactions were overboard.

Maybe weirdly the "older" people, despite watching more years of basketball, also got to watch Bird, and Bird was a shot out of the cannon

Sort of. He was 24 in his second season, when he won his first title. Same age as JT is now, having just finished his 5th season

I agree. I think it has to do more with Covid/anxiety/depression than Larry Bird. People are edgy everywhere in this country. I don’t think it is necessarily just some Celtics fans.
