Amir Coffey should be a top target for the Celtics with the MLE.  A career 38% 3-point shooter, he took off this year as the Clippers converted his two-way to a full deal.  He averaged 14/5/3 per-36, and shot ,453/.378/.863.  He’s got good size at 6’8”, albeit with a short wingspan, but is fine for a backup wing to Tatum and Brown.  He’s a plus defender, so would fit exactly what the Celtics are trying to do on that end.  Only 24 years old, he gave really good minutes to a surprising Clippers team that was without Kawhi and Paul George.  He’s a restricted feee agent so the Clippers could match, but they project to be around $30 million over the cap before factoring in Coffey (assuming they resign Batum, which seems to be a top priority), so the ~$6 million of the MLE could be more they’re willing to pay.

You’ve heard it here first: Sign Amir Coffey.   He has the potential to be one of the steaks of free agency.

I like Amir Coffee. He’d be a great fit here. He’s not worth the MLE though. We could probably get him with one of our smaller trade exceptions, i.e. not the Fournier trade exception.

He’s a rotation-caliber wing, so he’s certainly worth more than the minimum.  What do you think he’s worth, give the C’s only have the taxpayer MLE anyway?

Mmm. Rare please :)

He'd be a good, under the radar target. Our MLE being the smaller one makes it fairly appropriate for Coffey. Still just 25 so fits the timeline of our guys nicely, and has developed into a solid 3&D guy.
