Seems like he easily has the potential to be like a Terry Rozier.

not offensively i think, but better defensively from what i am reading. this is going to be an interesting player to watch and see whether or not he can reach his potential.

Rozier was a really bad shooter his first few years with Boston. I don’t know why Davison can’t be equal or better offensively. He’s equally, or more, athletic and taller than Rozier. So, he should be a better finisher.

I’ll form my opinion after summer league, but I’m optimistic now.

He’s actually the same height as Rozier without shoes, and only a quarter inch more with shoes.  One inch more standing reach, two inches less wingspan.  One pound difference.  They’re very similarly sized.

If we can get a real rotation player from #53, we should all be happy. If we can get a starter level player from #53, we should be over the moon.

Odds are Davison is on the Carsen Edwards-path. He’ll show us 1-2 good summer league games, maybe a bunch of disappointing real-game minutes, and then clean up during garbage time. If he can buck that trend over the course of 2-4 years, I’ll be happy. If he goes that trend, then I won’t be disappointed.

Thanks. That’s very strange how there is such variability over player’s height on ESPN and other sources. Davison also appears to wear 2 inch shoes. 😂

Couldn’t sleep, so I instead just watched 30 minutes of Davison highlights.  I get there are lowlights I didn’t see, but his ceiling is through the roof.  He put Walker Kessler on a poster with a drive from a half-court set.  The catch-and-shoot 3 is fine, although he’ll probably need to start his motion a little higher, as it’s long and invites closeouts.  He makes a lot of good passes, and the rebounding will be a weapon.

I get he’s got a lot to work on, but there’s also an absolute ton to work with, and I really hope the Celtics commit to developing him.  It’s quite clear why even as late as mid-December, Mike Schmitz, then of ESPN and now in the Blazers front office, was calling him a lottery pick.

But I really hope he plays every minute possible in the G-League.  With a Covid-abbreviated high school career against low competition, he needs a lot of reps.  If he’s on the Celtics bench for only garbage time while Maine has a game, I will be upset.  The Celtics don't need him to contribute next year, they need him to contribute in 2-3 years.

100% agree about the G-League comment. I’d love to see him play 20+ games there. It’s what has bothered me about our development of Nesmith.

JDD should dominate in Summer League and in GLeague with his NBA athletism. In the NBA he needs to expand his game but he's 19 with plenty of room for growth. I hope he has the drive and desire to work his ass off.  For better or worse he looks very Westbrooky...
