Not saying he'd be the "perfect fit", but what do people think about Rajon Rondo on a veteran's minimum?  I haven't followed him much lately.  But, off the top of my head, it seems like he'd be a nice fit and could play 10 or so minutes a game and be inserted when the offense goes stagnant.  And, unless he's a shell of his former self, the defense wouldn't drop off substantially with him in there.

Thoughts?
He can throw off team chemistry as he has a strong personality. Think that is the biggest fear in having him on a team.

Clippers rumored to be shopping Kennard (probably for tax savings). I would consider taking him into the Fournier TPE if the cost was right (Nesmith and/or a 2nd). Career 42% from 3. 3/44 left on his contract with a team option year 3.

I'd like this move too.  I think Kennard could be that infusion off the bench.

I like it too. Good idea.

Good skill-set to complement D White & G Williams. A defensive combo guard, a bulky forward and a sweet shooting wing in Kennard. Good mix of options.

Kennard would be fine off the bench.  I wouldn't have any issue with that.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I like Kennard the player and the contract better than Duncan Robinson.  In theory, he fits the role of the bench wing/scorer but I don't know, I am just not that excited about him.  Is he even as good as Josh Richardson for example?  Certainly not as versatile.

I know the TPE expires 18 Jul 2022 so if we are going to do something with it, we need to do it soon.

solid depth for the bench.  wouldn't be excited by this but would like it better than just letting that TPE expire unused

Agreed. A Kennard acquisition wouldn’t be a home run. But it would likely be a solid B. And he is a legitimately really good shooter. We could certainly use that. It would also (I assume) keep our future firsts in play for now, so we would still have the opportunity to make a bigger move later in the offseason with 1st rounders. It would just necessitate salary-matching to do so rather than using the Fournier TPE.

Kennard has an elite skill so arguably he is better than J rich because of that.  I suspect Kennard's defense is not great so that would be an issue in the playoffs.  But he would be a pretty decent get given our options.

I would love to get Harrison Barnes but since the Kings didn't want to lose him last year while "pushing" for the play-in, I don't think they will trade him this year either unfortunately.

Not the sexiest name, but I reckon Onyeka Okongwu would fit our system like a glove.

- He's an elite perimeter defender for a big man. Better than Timelord in this regard.
- He's an elite PnR roll man. Was scoring 1.44 PPP as a roller in 2021/22 which ranked in the 95th percentile. For reference purposes, Timelord was scoring 1.33 PPP which ranked in the 84th percentile.

In a nutshell, he'd be the perfect mobile big in our system. If for whatever reason we trade Timelord (which I don't think we will), Okongwu would be my #1 target to replace him.

Okongwu was disappointingly bad in that game he started in the playoffs. I wonder whether he is just effective going up against 2nd unit players and out of his depth against starting caliber talent.

He is interesting. One to keep an eye on. But I'm not sold on him at this point.

I recall some people here screaming for him in that draft but he hasn't done much since then.  is he really any better than the plethora of bigs Brad shipped out in the trades last year?

Okongwu is 21, and Atlanta has Capela, Collins and Gallinari and they drafted Jalen Johnson last year too. He played pretty well in the playoffs.

His athletic profile and defensive skills are really rare. He's someone who can play within our defensive scheme. So yeah, he's different.
