"When asked about the ability to use Boston’s Traded Player Exceptions and the Mid-Level Exception, Stevens said, “We’ve got the ok to do whatever we need to do.”

That’s welcomed news, considering there has seemed to be a reluctance for Celtics ownership to go into the luxury tax at times. It seems as if the commitment from Wyc Grousbeck to “pay the tax for a contender” rings true."

Good if true...

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Mo Bama, Jalen Smith. Trey Burke. Marcus Morris.
Dennis Smith would be a good sign IMO.
Batum. Whatever guard Phx does not keep.
Bismack Biyombo. One of the Martin twins.
TPE's Kuzma or Brogdon

Begs the question about what good is the cap if teams can go over and essentially buy a title? Boston probably wins it all this year if GS hadn't gone over.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

As with all things, it depends on who is actually available.  Like are John Collins or Michael Porter, Jr. available?  What about someone like Towns?  Is Boston going to be under the hard cap, opening the door to sign and trade candidates like Brunson, Sexton, or Ayton.

Lots of unknowns making this a difficult question to answer.

If the question is players that could reasonably be available, fit into the TPE, and won't cost much, if anything, to acquire, I'd say Duncan Robinson and Maxi Kleber are pretty good fits.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'd be looking at an Al replacement, as I love the other 4 starters. Sounds like John Collins is fully on the table, but don't think White and Theis get that done. SAC has already had conversations about acquiring Collins and they have a lot more to offer.

I'd love Isaac if he is healthy; same with Carter Jr. ORL and BOS seem to have a good working relationship with a couple of deals over the last couple of years. Not sure if we have anything they want, though.

John Collins…. What’s the asking price?

Theis + Grant + Nesmith + Stauskas + #1?

Realistically: Harrison Barnes, Malcolm Brogdon (his injury history scares me), Joe Ingles (if he were healthy)

Pipe dream: Haliburton, CP3, Bam (elite perimeter defender at the C position, he'd be literally the perfect fit in our switch-heavy defensive scheme)

Great, but not perfect fit: Jerami Grant (if only he were a bit better shooter and passer), Kyle Anderson (if only he were a better shooter)

My binkie is Haliburton. I'd trade anybody but the Jays for him: Timelord, Smart, picks, swaps, you name it. Fwiw, nbadraftroom.com has the Pacers selecting Dyson Daniels who's an oversized PG. If so, perhaps there's a miniscule chance they trade Haliburton going forward. Don't expect it to happen, just saying.

Rumor was ATL had interest in White at the deadline. I'd think any deal would would start with him.

In a trade, I haven’t seen Kevin Huerter mentioned. He’s overpaid, and ATL may be looking to drop his salary, so they might not ask too much. He shoots and has some shot creation ability, he’s got good size for a 2-3, and while he’s nobody’s idea of a defensive stopper, my memory is that when the Cs players tried to pick on him in regular season games he competed -  ibidy walked over him and he got blocks and steals. Not my first choice, but a clear upgrade on current bench wings and maybe gettable at a good asset price.

An MLE guy I haven’t heard mentioned is Bruce Brown. If the Nets let him walk he might command a bigger paycheck than the taxpayer MLE, but not a ton more. The pitch would be: come to Boston and play for a contender 2 years. Maybe win a ring and play an important role - you can have a great ride and cash in big in 2 years.

Yeah, I don't think I was totally clear in my post, but I mentioned White and Theis (or White and anyone since salaries would be close enough to match). Maybe I am just being pessimistic based on White's recent performance, but it would be great if that were enough. ATL has been linked to both Smart and White in the past; they desperately need a defensive guard to pair with Trae. I have no interest in giving up Smart, but would be ecstatic if we could agree on something based on White.

I don't see Brad or Ime wanting to deal him.  Both seem to love his game.

It’s crazy but Gordon Hayward is exactly what this team needs.
