Which one player would be the "perfect fit"?

Interesting.  I know that Beal is a popular choice.

I don't love the fit.  We definitely need offensive talent, but Beal is somewhat of a ball stopper, he's largely inefficient, and he doesn't play much defense.  I think adding him has as much of a chance to lead to guys getting in the way of one another as it does improving the offense.  I also worry about how JB would take it, being relegated to a third option.

Beal can run the point. He'd be our best distributor. He would have to fit in but if the goal is to win a championship he'd have to fit. A lineup of TIMELORD, Tatum, Brown, Beal, and Smart is really good. Smart would have to adjust.

I think Harrison Barnes may be the single best fit I can think of.

He fits our lineup, he slides into our third option, he can shoot, pass and defend.

Josh Hart. Tough, versatile defender. Can play 2-4 and fit in the court with all of our guards and wings. Basically, a forward version of White. Can shoot enough. Great rebounder. Improving offensive player. Good contract (2/26). In his prime. Builds on our strength and team identity while filling a positional need off the bench.

Even if Beal tries to force his way here, I'm not sure it's realistic.  Or if it is, it's gonna change the team so significantly that the end result so much that we'll have no idea whether it will be for the worse of the better.  We got to the finals on the back of a great defense.  Given the pieces that would need to go back for beal, that likely will be gone.

Correct.  We'd have to match salary.  Theis + Pritchard + Nesmith works.

Unrealistically: Wendell Carter Jr. I think he's mini Al with some "attack the closeout off the dribble" potential. I'd be ecstatic with John Wall if he declines his player option, but he won't.

Semi-realistically: I'd love to see Malcolm Brogan. TJ Warren or Gary Harris would also be great.

Realistically: Josh Hart, Nic Batum, Kuzma. Rubio off an injury is worth a flier, imo. So is Ingles, but in more of an "11th man" sort of way than an "assumed rotation player" like Rubio. PJ Tucker would be nice Grant mentor but wouldn't really move the needle.

I'd talk myself into it: Iguodala, Thad Young, Ibaka. Nice guys to have, but I don't see them actually moving the needle by becoming a top-8 rotation player. I'd take a Bagley one plus one if he's willing. Taurean Prince and Malik Beasley would be interesting, but also guys I wouldn't slot in as rotation players on paper.

I'm all for Beal if he wants to come here. Think he'd be happy to be 2nd or 3rd banana to mentee Tatum and young and hungry Jaylen.
