I think every player on the roster had one or more injuries this season.  The biggest injury impacts in my mind are:
Jayson Tatum: Just not the same after the shoulder stinger in the Miami series
Jaylen Brown: I'm certain his wrist was never right during the playoffs but I can't prove it and he wouldn't admit during the series.
Robert Williams III: If not for the knee, I think the C's would have #18 right now.
Marcus Smart: Missed time during the season and probably played injured in the Finals

Now, I read a lot of posters saying "but no excuses" which I suppose is true from the coaching perspective, but the injuries do explain what happened, IMO.  To make things worse, when players went down, there was not much reliable bench depth to tide the team over.

Yes injuries explain why Boston didn't lose to Milwaukee in the 2nd round.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I expect to hear within the next week that Jayson Tatum will undergo surgery to fix whatever is going on with his shoulder. All that aside, this was a winnable series, and we played poorly. Hope it's a learning experience, and hope we can get back there.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Maybe, but we were pretty much without TL for the series, too. I realize Middleton is a bigger offensive force, but TL is such a difference maker on our team.

I'm happy we were able to beat them with an injured player of our own. If it had gone 7 and we were totally healthy, it would have leave us with little hope next season.

nah injuries do not fix terrible turnovers and coaching lack of adjustments and issues between ears we have had for centuries now it feels like with this group. they still would have made dumb careless decisions.
