Warriors was better team..we had no bench
Yeah, lets not overlook the Warriors will be big favorites to repeat, especially with Wiseman coming back AND Kuminga is going to be star, though he's still only 19. Moody also shows good promise as a shooter off the bench. This is a very deep and talented team.

Wiseman, Kuminga, Wiggins, Poole, Payton II the next future. They remind me of the Spurs when their Big 3 and Kawhi were still on the team together.
Omg. What are you even saying?? Who on that team reminds you of Kawhi Leonard?

Ime said something in his post game that was pretty much on the mark.

Quote
“I think the biggest part for us is the IQ section,” Udoka said. “That’s where we saw a huge difference in consistency with us and Golden State, just the little things that experience only can teach you.”

https://theathletic.com/3370802/2022/06/17/celtics-warriors-nba-finals/

They need more seasoning.
And is that so bad? I don't think so. Don't think you do either Oz.

The Isiah Thomas Pistons, the Michael Jordan Bulls, the Kobe/Pau Lakers and the Lebron Heat all needed some seasoning and growing of their teams in Finals losses before bouncing back for multiple titles. No reason to think this version of the Celtics can't do the same.

No, not disappointed in that at all. It's just the reality of it. I feel that basketball, like life, is all about dealing with disappointment and adversity. Sometimes you work hard for something and you don't succeed. The fun part is in figuring out how to rebound from that and get better. Personally the first couple of businesses I started after I left corporate life went under. But I learned from them. As Nelson Mandela said:

“Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”

I thought we had the more balanced and cohesive team overall, but they failed to play better and prove it when it counted. So now they have to pick themselves up after a disappointment and get back there. If they somehow won the series turning the ball over an average of 18 times a game it might prove impossible to breed that bad habit out of them. Now that GS has punished every single one of those turnovers and bad reads, and won a championship celebrating on their home floor, the Cs will be under no illusions as to what they need to get better at. And watching them try to bridge the gap next season will be fun.  :police:
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

The better team lost.  Sheesh, the salt in these parts.

Exactly. If the warriors didn’t melt down in game 1, this is over in 5. We just had 6 games of evidence on what each team is going 2 do. People think smart brown & Tatum are suddenly going to stop turning it over? It was happening all playoffs. Both teams shows who they were. That wasn’t going 2 change.

It was not some epic collapse by the Warriors.

C’s came back twice in that game from double digit deficits. That game was never out of reach like Game 3.

C’s won the first 2 out of 3 and appeared to be the more physical bigger and athletic team. Ppl were saying it was gonna be over in 5 or 6 in favor of the the Celtics.

But for whatever reason we didn’t take care of homecourt and we’ve been pretty good at home all year.

The Cs were mentally fatigued.

Playing so long year round for guys like Tatum and Brown definitely got to them.

And it did seem like they were more happy to be there (making the Finals) as opposed to being the hungrier team.

How can you watch that series and come to that conclusion? Cs made the same mistakes over and over again. By definition that doesn’t make them better. GS outplayed the Cs in pretty much every game this series.

Because the Cs played terribly in the Finals overall.

Warriors played well and did a lot of shot making and pressured the Cs more so than any other team defensively.

If I were to grade the teams overall play:

Celtics - D

Warriors - B+

And the series was still close and went 6.

If the Cs played a C game I think they win it in 7.

That’s why I feel the Cs are the better team and many analytic sites said the same thing.

Completely disagree.  The better team won.

You can't continue to make the same FUNDAMENTAL mistakes game after game - turnovers, free throws, out-rebounded by a smaller team, out-hustled by an older team - and star player not show up and think the C's are the better team.

Well obviously the Warriors played better and deserved to win the ship.

C’s didn’t play a great game all series. They played well in spurts.

If they had played strong like in the Bucks series they win this Finals in a sweep.

But they played worse as the playoffs went on sad to say.

Unless we were missing a key piece, I don't see how anyone can reasonably claim the better team lost a 4-2 series.

Curry was by far the best player in the series according to the Game Score stat at BBReference and the top 3 GSW players in minutes (SC, AW, and KT) considerably outplayed the Jays and Smart. But our next three players in terms of minutes (AH, TL, and DW) considerably outplayed Green, Looney, and Poole to the point that the top 6 players on each team were relatively even. Unfortunately, the remaining GSW bench (led by Porter and Payton) wiped the floor with the Boston bench (led by GW and PP).
