Sports journalist, Tom Westerholm has put together a compilation (from Game 2) of the Celtics forcing passes, that just simply are not there.

So their achilles heel is that they self destruct? Because that's what I saw the other night and again on this video. I mean, some of those passes even high school kids wouldn't throw that garbage.

I always cringe when I see someone make a full court pass to one of our bigs in transition because as good as Horford and Timelord are, they tend to be sluggish collecting the ball and finishing the bucket especially if there’s already 1-2 defenders in the vicinity. It often ends up being a turnover or a bad shot attempt. Sometimes they work but a lot of the times it doesn’t and it’s infuriating

As for this particular game there were definitely 4, maybe even 5 passes that literally didn’t go close to a Celtics player. Just Tatum or Smart passing it to a Golden State defender or to literally an empty part of the court which GSW player ran to and got

Saw a few football-style passes getting intercepted in game 2 lol

They're too ambitious in many ways.

most of them occurring when the passer as already jumped and has to pass or shoot OR the passer has barged into a pack of defenders and any anticipated passing outlet has evaporated

The flip side of this is that this is a team full of really good players who are actively trying to be unselfish.

It’s gotten us this far.

Sometimes they mess it up and the turnovers are what happens.

But overall this mentality has worked.  And we just need it to work a little bit more. 😁😁👍

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I watched the video, but I expected more than 5 bad passes. If the Cs only had 5 bad passes, then there was something else in play, as well.

They got stripped a lot inside, especially Tatum. Also lost a few out of bounds which I guess were also bad passes but if you watch the replays it was mostly an attempt to keep the ball inbounds off a deflection but didn't work out. I think Theis and White had 1-2 of those

Right?  Ultimately nothing is an Achilles Heel until they're eliminated.
Yup

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
