The Celtics ownership group, led by Wyc Grousbeck and Steven Pagliuca, will “take steps” in submitting an application for All-Star weekend, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

The earliest open slot for an All-Star game is in 2025; the game will be in Utah in 2023 and Indianapolis in 2024.

While the C’s haven’t made a bid for an All-Star game in recent years, Washburn reports that the NBA wants the midseason exhibition contest in Boston.

While the cold weather could be a deterrent, recent sites have been in cold Midwestern cities like Chicago in 2020 and Cleveland this year, along with Toronto in 2016.

And half of those years you're talking about having the All-Star game in one of the worst venues in the league. Yes the old Garden was a special place, great home court advantage and all. But it was also an absolute dump.

There was talk early on in this ownership group of building their own arena. Is that totally out the window now?
