I feel like the Celtics need to do some things differently in order to win this series, including…

1) From Smart: Less 3pt shots, more assists/playmaking, needs to post up Curry and Poole. Marcus is much stronger than those two.

2) From Jaylen: Less dribbling when making moves on offense, which will hopefully lead to less turnovers.

3) Less jump shots, more attacking the basket. Warriors don’t have a Giannis, Lopez, or Bam down low to protect the rim. They have several players that are defensive liabilities who can be exploited. Curry and Poole specifically. Force switches to get one of those guys on Tatum or Brown and take it to them.

4) More 3pt attempts for Grant and Payton, less from Smart and White. C’s average the second most 3pt attempts per game in the postseason, only trailing the Mavs. For a team that takes a ton of 3’s, GW and PP who both shoot over 40% from deep should not be getting one or two attempts in a game. That happened several times last series…

5) I’d like to see Theis get some court time. Horford is playing a ton of minutes and some games he and Grant have really struggled. Feel like Theis should be given an opportunity in those situations.

Yup just win, , they are who they are ,  healthy Rob would be huge ,  it doesn’t look pretty without his 100% ability’s,  hopefully they ll scrap and claw their way to victory like in the Miami series.  Just wearing the other team down within relentless intensity on defense ,  basically having younger legs …..wear their offensive stars out by fourth Curry and Thompson. Hope they miss shots from running at a frantic pace all game.  Weather the runs by Warriors .

I think the whole team understands now how seldom this opportunity comes along .

Guess that’s what I’m trying to say. I don’t think they can win doing what they did the last two series. They are playing a much better opponent.

There's nothing wrong with milking the shot clock, I've never really understood that complaint... it's what should be done.

The problem is that they don't know how to do it. Milking the clock doesn't mean, or shouldn't mean, standing in the corner just past the the half court and waiting for the last 5 seconds to do a move. No, all it should mean is that you don't take quick shots unless it's an open layup. It shouldn't mean Jaylen Brown holding the ball and driving through traffic, etc., etc.

And this Celtics team suffers from that, no movement through the whole 24 seconds and often taking ill advised shots early in the shot clock because they're "open". Clock management is extremely important to close out 4th quarters, so don't think disregarding it just so that they can keep running their stuff as usual is the answer either.

  • list]no more playing tight at the end of quarters and the games.
  • no taking your foot off the gas when the game is going well. Even a 15 point lead with 5 minutes to go in the game is dangerous against GSW

Go back to last two minutes gets reviewed by the refs if they aren't sure in real time.  I hate the one challenge rule.  The NBA needs to fix this during the off season.  Maybe one challenge each half and if successful you can keep challenging until you lose the challenge.

I wish they would fire all the NBA refs and bring in those Olympic refs we saw and adopt the international rules. That's a better looking game.

This.

I think the issue of Jaylen and Jayson constantly getting stripped on their drives won't be as big an issue this series.  I don't see  GSW as packing the paint type of D that would have several defenders building a gauntlet they have to get through to get to the basket --> not as many active hands swiping at the ball for TOs.  not saying it won't still happen at times but I don't think we'll see it as often.

primary issue --> take care of the ball and the defensive boards.  if they get GSW to miss a shot, don't give them another chance to score because they probably will

That's the issue, to this team that's what they're doing. What's concerning is Ime didn't mention that was part of the problem when the Heat closed the gap. I fear they'll try and do that again. To me it's the NBA's equivalent of a prevent defense because the team with the lead is going away from what helped them get the lead in the first place.

whenever we get a 10 point lead or more, the first Celtic to sloppily turn the ball over has to sit out the rest of the series.  Let's see if we have enough guys to finish the whole series.. ;D

Limit the turnovers.

I'll really irk me if we have games where we turn it over like 20 times with a bunch of them being self-inflicted and Golden State cashes in which is extremely likely as they got fantastic shooters as we know. Can't just be giving them free points. Make them work for it.

Exactly. It’s like they don’t have plays to run in those situations, which is really frustrating to see.

Hoping to see a lot of picks for Tatum and Brown tonight. Force Curry and Poole to defend, which will hopefully lead to some easy baskets while also wearing them down.
