Honestly, I think Boston's mentality this summer should be thinking like Middleton didn't get hurt and Boston lost to Milwaukee in the ECS.  I think that is the more realistic view of the team and as such the summer should be planned like that.  And that thought shouldn't change no matter the outcome of the last 2 games of this series.

I agree.  Even if we win a title, the other teams in the East are going to be better next year.  Milwaukee will have Middleton back.  Brooklyn, Philly or Miami all have some flexibility to improve.  We need to add significant improvements to the team, and we have the financial flexibility to do it.  Wyc needs to authorize Brad to use all of our trade exceptions as well as the MLE to add talent.
Yeah, and let's be clear, this team needs more addition by addition and not addition by trading a top 7 piece away. If Theis or Nesmith or Pritchard need to be included for a major upgrade so be it, but I don't think this team needs to do anything more than use the TPEs combined with picks or use the TMLE.

This is all relatively true. As the commish says, basketball is a zero-sum game. If one team wins, others lose. If one team improves, others have to get worse. You have to stay ahead of the game by internal development, and clever roster moves.

Luckily, I think we are primed for great internal development. Now that you have your main pieces, its easier for the 8-15 guys to know what they need to do to impact the game. I think CBS is one of the best basketball minds at finding the right kind of guys to be in that position. I also think Ime and his staff will do a better and better job developing them.

However, I also think one more offensive piece would really help the Cs. We need one more guy on offense that can be super-aggressive and get his own shot.

and right on cue a post outlining the concern I have i.e. minor moves aren't going to work.  Boston needs to upgrade 1 spot in the top 3 of the team or it isn't going reach true long term contender status.  And to upgrade the top 3, Boston is going to have trade real pieces to do that.

I’m not ready to post more trade JB posts, but I got really sick of watching him write checks his body could not cash in the Finals. I am not alone. I’m not sure if he was listening to Kanye hype or what, but that’s not the guy we had in the eastern playoffs series. That said, I do think he can mature and I’m still in JKJB for now. For now. Kawhi is probably not coming through that door, with 2018 being our last shot at the champion that is Kawhi. I need time to reflect on this and grieve. I’d have rather lost in the ECF again. Frankly, I am more PO’d at JT for pretending he’s 2011 LeBron than I am at JB. I loved JB’s heart this playoffs—I just wish he knew his limits. If we could get JT to play like JB in terms of belief in self and trying to be absolutely super, and get JB to restrain himself like JT has like an overly-cautious worry-wart…then we can have the magic duo we all want and need to win it all.
